Newfoundland And Labrador Route 434
Route 434, also known as Conche Road, is a east–west highway on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It serves as the only road access to the town of Conche, connecting it with the town of Roddickton and Route 433 (Englee Highway). Route 434 is a paved, winding, two-lane road through rural hilly terrain for its entire length. There are no other communities or intersections of any kind along Route 434 other than at its two termini. In 2016, Route 434 was voted the second Worst Road in Atlantic Canada by the Canadian Automobile Association's Worst Roads list. This was the third time in six years that Route 434 had made the list. Conche, Newfoundland And Labrador
Conche ( ) is a community on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Its population in 2021 was 149. The community Conche is located on the sheltered southwest side of a small bay formed by the south side of a T-shaped peninsula, called the Conche Peninsula, which is joined to the mainland by a short, slender isthmus. Although the area mostly consists of steep cliffs, the settlement is concentrated on gentle sheltered slopes and in the small covers north and south of the isthmus. The settlement to the immediate north of the isthmus was Cape Rouge (later Northeast and Southwest Crouse). The Great Northern Peninsula (Inuttitut: ''Ikkarumiklua'') is the largest and longest peninsula of Newfoundland, Canada, approximately 270 km long and 90 km wide at its widest point and encompassing an area of 17,483 km2. It is defined as that part of Newfoundland from Bonne Bay northwards around Cape Norman and Cape Bauld and thence southwards to the head of White Bay, bounded by the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the west, the Strait of Belle Isle on the north and the Labrador Sea and White Bay on the east. Route 433, also known as Englee Highway, is a north–south highway on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It connects the towns of Englee, Bide Arm, Roddickton, as well as Conche via Route 434 (Conche Road), with Route 432 (Main Brook Highway) and Main Brook. Route description Route 433 begins in downtown Englee and winds its way northward through neighbourhoods to leave town and travel along the cliffs overlooking the coastline for several kilometres. It now enters the combined municipality of Roddickton-Bide Arm and passes through Bide Arm before leaving the coastline and passing through wooded areas. The highway now winds its way through Roddickton, where it has an intersection with Route 434, before leaving town and Roddickton-Bide Arm to pass through rural areas for several kilometres before coming to an end at an intersection with Route 432.
