New Social Contract
New Social Contract ( nl, Nieuw Sociaal Contract, ; NSC) is a political party in the Netherlands founded and led by Pieter Omtzigt. The party focuses on the themes of good governance and social security. History In early 2021, Omtzigt wrote the manifesto '' A New Social Contract'', with ideas for the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), the party for which he served in the House of Representatives at the time. After a falling out with his party over the appointment of Wopke Hoekstra as party leader and the '' "Position Omtzigt, function elsewhere"'' note that leaked during the 2021–2022 cabinet formation, he split from the CDA in June 2021 and continued as a one-man faction in September of that year. After the 2023 Dutch general election was announced following the fall of the fourth Rutte cabinet, Omtzigt founded New Social Contract (NSC) on 19 August 2023. Pieter Omtzigt
Pieter Herman Omtzigt (born 8 January 1974) is an independent Dutch politician who has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2003 apart from a short interruption from 17 June to 26 October 2010. In his political work, Omtzigt focuses on matters of taxes and pensions. He rose to prominence for his role in uncovering the childcare benefits scandal. The Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (; NOS ; English: Dutch Broadcasting Foundation) is one of the broadcasting organisations making up the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. It has a special statutory obligation to make news and sports programmes for the three Dutch public television channels and the Dutch public radio services. It is funded by the Dutch government. 2021–2022 Dutch Cabinet Formation
Following the 2021 Dutch general election, Dutch general election on 17 March 2021, a Dutch cabinet formation, cabinet formation led to the establishment of the fourth Rutte cabinet in 2022. The coalition included the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), Democrats 66 (D66), Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) and Christian Union (Netherlands), Christian Union (CU), the same parties from the preceding third Rutte cabinet. This formation process, lasting 299 days, was the List of Dutch cabinet formations, longest formation in Dutch history. ''Trouw'' (; ) is a Dutch daily newspaper appearing in compact size. It was founded in 1943 as an orthodox Protestant underground newspaper during World War II. Wopke Bastiaan Hoekstra (born 30 September 1975) is a Dutch politician who has served as second Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the fourth Rutte cabinet since 10 January 2022. He has also been Leader of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) since 2020. Hoekstra previously served as Minister of Finance in the third Rutte cabinet from 2017 to 2022. Early life Hoekstra was born in Bennekom, Gelderland, and studied law at Leiden University from 1994 and obtained his LLM degree in 2001. The Christian Democratic Youth Appeal (Dutch: Christen-Democratische Jongeren Appèl), officially abbreviated as CDJA, is the youth organisation of the political party Christian Democratic Appeal in the Netherlands. It came about via the merging of the political youth organisations ARJOS, CHJO and the KVP-jongerenorganisatie. The organisation is affiliated with Christian Democrats locally, nationally and internationally. Throughout the Netherlands there are about fifty divisions active of the CDJA. These organisations are primarily concerned with provincial and local politics. The CDJA is involved not only with politics, but also is involved in programmes to increase mutual awareness and connectedness of CDJA youth throughout the organisation. A New Social Contract
''A New Social Contract'' ( nl, Een nieuw sociaal contract) is a manifesto written by Dutch politician Pieter Omtzigt with a contribution by philosopher Welmoed Vlieger. It was published on 23 February 2021. When Omtzigt wrote it, he was number 2 on the candidate list of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) for the 2021 Dutch general election. In the book, Omtzigt described his political vision. The book serves as the basis for the political party New Social Contract, which Omtzigt founded for the 2023 Dutch general election. Welfare, or commonly social welfare, is a type of government support intended to ensure that members of a society can meet basic human needs such as food and shelter.
