New Movement ( it, Nuovo Movimento) was a political party active in Sardinia founded in 1997 by the entrepreneur Nicola Grauso. The party had in its program of transformation of Sardinia into the world leader in the Internet. History The New Movement was founded in 1997 by the entrepreneur Nicola Grauso, former creator of one of the first internet service providers in Italy, "Video On Line", with access points in every corner of the Italian province. The movement was founded after a failed attempt by Grauso to relaunch, together with other Sardinian entrepreneurs, the important paper mill based in Arbatax, in Ogliastra, coming into conflict with the center-left regional government of Sardinia led by Federico Palomba. Grauso declared that the New Movement was neither on the right nor on the left. 1999 Sardinian Regional Election
The Sardinian regional election of 1999 took place on 13 and 27 June 1999. The centre-right coalition led by Mauro Pili won the election but was short of a clear majority; Pili, who was appointed President of the Region was not able to form a majority and was soon replaced by the defeated candidate, Gian Mario Selis, who was not able to win the confidence vote of the Regional Council himself. The former President Mario Floris was asked to form a government avoiding a new regional election. Mariano Delogu
Mariano Delogu (28 September 1933 – 27 July 2016) was an Italian politician: mayor of Cagliari from 1994 to 2001 and senator from 2001 to 2013. Biography Graduated in Law at the University of Cagliari and specialized as a lawyer, Delogu has been president of the Cagliari Calcio football club from 1976 to 1981 and has been a member of the Italian Football Federation council. In 1994, Delogu joined Gianfranco Fini's National Alliance and became the Pole of Good Government official candidate for the office of Mayor of Cagliari, and was elected. He was re-elected mayor in 1998. Delogu left his mayoral seat in 2001, once he was elected Senator for the House of Freedoms and held the seat for three consecutive legislatures till 2013.
