The New Generation Movement or Naway Nwe ( ku, Culanewey Newey Nwê / ku, label=none, جوڵانهوهی نهوهی نوێ, ar, حراك الجيل الجديد) is an Iraqi Kurdish political party formed to contest the 2018 general election. History of the party The New Generation Movement is a newly founded political party in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which was formed in October 2017. The party was founded by Shaswar Abdulwahid, a businessman and investor in the Kurdistan region. Abdulwahid founded the movement after heading the "No for Now" campaign against the Kurdistan independence referendum in September 2017. Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir
Shaswar Abdulwahid ( ckb, شاسوار عەبدولواحید; born 2 December 1978 in Slemani, Kurdistan region, is a businessman-turned-politician, leader of Naway Nwe movement and the founder of NRT media. Media and business empire In 2007, Abdulwahid established Nalia Company, which first invested in real estate starting with housing projects such as German Village 1, 2, and 3, Nali City, and then others (Kurdcity 1 and 2). Following the success of those projects, he turned into media. In 2010, he established Nalia Media Company, which now has four satellite channels in Kurdish NRT News (NRT, NRT2, NRT3, and NRT4). Another channel, NRT Arabic, was also a successful TV station until in October 2019, during the anti-government protests in Baghdad, its offices were ransacked by an armed group and forced off-air. 2021 Iraqi Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Iraq on 10 October 2021. The elections decide the 329 members of the Council of Representatives who will in turn elect the Iraqi president and confirm the prime minister. 25 million voters are eligible to take part in Iraq's fifth parliamentary election since the 2003 US-led invasion and the first since the 2019 Iraqi October Revolution. Kurdistan Islamic Union
Kurdistan Islamic Union ( ku, یەکگرتووی ئیسلامیی کوردستان ;Yekgirtiya Îslamî ya Kurdistanê), colloquially referred to as Yekgirtû, is an Islamist party in Iraqi Kurdistan. Leadership and supporters Salahaddin Bahaaddin cofounded the Kurdistan Islamic Union on February 6, 1994. In the first General Conference he was elected as the Secretary General of the party. Sulaymaniyah, also spelled as Slemani ( ku, سلێمانی, Silêmanî, ar, السليمانية, as-Sulaymāniyyah), is a city in the east of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, not far from the Iran–Iraq border. 2017 Kurdistan Region Independence Referendum
An independence referendum for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq was held on 25 September 2017, with preliminary results showing approximately 92.73 percent of votes cast in favour of independence.
