New European Transmission System
The New European Transmission System (NETS) is a project to unite Central and South Eastern Europe's natural gas transmission networks by creating a common gas transmission system operator (TSO). The project is foreseen to create a sizable and efficient regional gas market that significantly enhances gas supply security in the participating countries. History The NETS project was proposed by the Hungarian energy company MOL in December 2007. Original invitation to join this project was sent to gas TSOs in Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia with possible extension to other gas TSOs in Central and South Eastern Europe. The proposal was welcomed by the European Commission. Plinacro is a natural gas transmission system operator in Croatia. History Plinacro was founded on 1 February 2001 as a subsidiary of INA. Since March 2002, Plinacro is a fully state-owned company. The Nabucco pipeline (also referred as Turkey–Austria gas pipeline) was a failed natural gas pipeline project from Erzurum, Turkey to Baumgarten an der March, Austria to diversify natural gas suppliers and delivery routes for Europe. The pipeline was to lessen European dependence on Russian energy. The project was backed by several European Union states and the United States and was seen as rival to the Gazprom- Eni South Stream pipeline project. The main supplier was to be Iraq with potential supplies from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Egypt. The project was developed by a consortium of six companies. Ionian Adriatic Pipeline
The Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) is a proposed natural gas pipeline in Southeast Europe. It would run from Fier in Albania through Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Split in Croatia. In Fier, IAP would be connected with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline. Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG has signed memorandums of understanding with developers of the IAP project, including Plinacro (Croatia), BH-Gas (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and governments of Montenegro and Albania.
