The New England Open was the New England open golf tournament, open to both amateur and professional golfers. It is organized by the New England Section of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. It has been played annually since 1974 at a variety of courses around New England. It was cancelled in 2011 but returned in 2012. New England
New England is a region comprising six states in the Northeastern United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Dana Quigley
Dana C. Quigley (born April 14, 1947) is an American professional golfer. Quigley was born in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1969 and turned professional in 1971. Quigley's career in regular tournament golf was unremarkable. He worked as a club professional for many years and had 18 tournament victories in local tournaments in New England. His best finish on the PGA Tour was sixth at the 1980 Greater Milwaukee Open. In 1997, Quigley became eligible to play in senior golf tournaments, and he soon became a leading player at this level. His first win on the Senior PGA Tour (later called the Champions Tour) came at that year's Northville Long Island Classic. In 2005 at age 58, he led the Champions Tour money list and became the oldest player to win the Arnold Palmer Award for the leading money-winner on the circuit. He has won 11 tournaments on the tour. Bob Menne
Robert Menne (February 19, 1942 – June 2, 2023) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour, and the European Seniors Tour. Menne was born and raised in Gardner, Massachusetts, where he was graduated from Gardner High School in 1960. He attended college at the University of Miami in the early 1960s, and turned pro in 1965. Menne had at least seven top-10 finishes in PGA Tour events during his career including a win at the 1974 Kemper Open, which was held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. He won that tournament in a playoff with Jerry Heard. Menne also finished in a first-place tie with Lee Trevino at the end of regulation at the 1970 National Airlines Open Invitational but lost on the second extra hole of a playoff. Andy Morse (born December 29, 1958) is an American professional golfer. Morse was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He turned professional in 1984. Morse played on the Southern Africa Tour (now the Sunshine Tour) in 1988 and 1989 and the Nationwide Tour from 1990 to 1993 and 2000 to 2005. Brett Quigley (born August 18, 1969) is an American professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions, where he won the 2020 Morocco Champions. He was previously a member of the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. Early life Brett Quigley was born on August 18, 1969 in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He is the nephew of PGA Tour and Champions Tour golfer Dana Quigley. Jeff Julian (golfer)
Jeffrey Jackson Wedgwood Julian (July 29, 1961 – July 15, 2004) was an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour. He was the grandson of Basketball Hall of Fame coach Doggie Julian. After a failed attempt to walk on at Clemson University, Julian returned to New England, turned pro, and began earning his PGA of America class A status. Julian played on what is now the Web.com Tour in 1990 and 1997 to 2000, winning the Nike Dominion Open in 1997. He played on the PGA Tour in 1996 and 2001 after earning his PGA Tour card through Q-School. He played the 2002 PGA Tour season on sponsor's exemptions. Julian was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) in October 2001. He succumbed to ALS in July 2004 and is survived by his wife Kimberly, and two sons, Keegan, and Tyler.
