New Artsakh Alliance
The New Artsakh Alliance ( hy, Նոր Արցախ դաշինք) is an Armenian political alliance in Artsakh. History The New Artsakh Alliance was established on 29 January, 2020 during a conference in Stepanakert. The political alliance consists of several liberal parties; supporting the independent presidential candidacy of Artsakh foreign minister Masis Mayilyan. The alliance consists of the Artsakh of Tomorrow Party, the Identity and Unity Party, and the Ramkavar Liberal Party of Artsakh. The administrative bodies of the three political parties reaffirmed the stances of their respective parties and had pledged their support to Masis Mayilyan in the 2020 Artsakhian general election. In return, Mayilyan expressed his deep gratitude to the three political parties for their support and stressed that if elected, he would implement radical reform programs to benefit Artsakh. Masis Mayilyan
Masis Samveli Mayilyan ( Armenian:Մասիս Սամվելի Մայիլյան; born 14 September 1967) is an Artsakhi politician, diplomat and former presidential candidate. He is currently serving as ambassador-at-large of the Republic of Artsakh. From September 2017 until January 2021, he served as the Foreign Minister of Artsakh. Biography Early life and education Mayilyan was born on 14 September 1967 in Stepanakert, the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast, then a part of the Azerbaijani SSR. From 1984 to 1991 he studied at the Stepanakert State Pedagogical Institute and graduated from the Department of Physics and Mathematics, majoring in engineering and physics. 2020 Artsakhian General Election
General elections were held in the Republic of Artsakh on 31 March 2020, with a second round of the presidential election on 14 April. Voters elected the President and 33 members of the National Assembly. It was the first time the President and National Assembly were elected at the same time. The Free Motherland - UCA Alliance, United Motherland, Justice, ARF, and the Democratic Party won seats in National Assembly. No party won the majority of seats, which means that coalition talks are likely to be held within parties. Presidential candidate Arayik Harutyunyan came first in the first round of the presidential election. A run-off between him and incumbent Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan was held on 14 April 2020. Politics Of Artsakh
Politics of Artsakh takes place within the constraints of a written constitution, approved by a popular vote, that recognises three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. The executive branch of government is exercised within a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Artsakh is both the head of state and the head of government. National Assembly (Artsakh)
The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh ( hy, Արցախի Հանրապետության Ազգային ժողով, Artsakhi Hanrapetut'yan Azgayin zhoghov; often shortened: , ) is the legislative branch of the government of the Republic of Artsakh. Plans were in place to move the National Assembly from Stepanakert to Shusha on 9 May 2022 to mark the 30th anniversary of the capture of Shusha, but the city came under the control of Azerbaijan in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War. The Powerful United Homeland Party ( hy, Հզոր Միացյալ հայրենիքի կուսակցություն), also known as the Strong United Homeland Party is an Armenian political party in Artsakh.
