Neviges
Velbert (Low Rhenish: ''Vèlbed'') is a town in the district of Mettmann, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town is renowned worldwide for the production of locks and fittings. Geography Velbert is located on the hills of 'Niederberg' (meaning ''Lower Mountain''), part of the Berg region, approx. 20 kilometres north-east of the capital of North Rhine Westphalia, Düsseldorf, and 12 kilometers north-west of Wuppertal on the south side of the Ruhr river. Velbert stands on the highest part of the Niederberg region and also in its centre. Its average elevation is around 230 metres above sea level; its highest point, at 303 metres, is the ''Hordt-Berg'', and its lowest, at around 70.6 metres, is in Nierenhof am Deilbach. The highest point in Velbert itself is 263 metres above sea level, at the corner of Friedrichstraße and Langenberger Straße. Velbert-Neviges Station
Velbert-Neviges station is located in the city of Velbert in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line. History The original station was opened north of the centre of the then independent municipality of Neviges together with the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr railway on 1 December 1847 by the Prince William Railway Company (''Prinz-Wilhelm-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'') at line-kilometre 12.8. Since Neviges was incorporated into Velbert in 1975, the name of the station was changed from ''Neviges'' to ''Velbert-Neviges'' in December 2003. It was also moved a few hundred metres to the vicinity of the Neviges market (''Nevigeser Markt'') in 2003, so that it would have a better connection to bus transport. The original station is still preserved. The former platform canopy was demolished by Deutsche Bahn in March 2019 and the former station building is now used as a restaurant. Velbert-Langenberg station is located in the city of Velbert in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. It was built in 1847. S9 (Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn)
Line S 9 is an S-Bahn line on the Rhine-Ruhr network, operated by DB Regio. It runs from Recklinghausen Hbf / Haltern am See in the north through Gladbeck West - Essen Hbf to Hagen (Westphalia) Main Station in the south. During the day two services per hour run between Wuppertal and Gladbeck West, one service per hour between Gladbeck and Recklinghausen Hbf and Gladbeck and Haltern am See and one service per hour between Wuppertal and Hagen, using FLIRT 3XL electric multiple units. Velbert-Nierenhof station is located in the city of Velbert in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line and is served by S-Bahn line S 9. History The area of Nierenhof station was the location of the terminus of the Deil Valley Coal Railway (''Deilthaler Kohlenbahn''), the line of the first German railway company (founded in 1828 by Friedrich Harkort and later renamed the Prince William Railway Company (''Prinz-Wilhelm-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft''), which was laid next to the Deilbach from Nierenhof to Hinsbeck to serve the coal mines in the Deilbach valley, including the mine in Nierenhof. Essen Hauptbahnhof
Essen Hauptbahnhof (German for "Essen main station") is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It is situated south of the old town centre, next to the A 40 motorway. It was opened in 1862 by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. However, the station was not the first in Essen: as the station called ''Essen'' (today Essen-Altenessen) on the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn was opened in 1847. The station suffered extensive damage in World War II and was almost completely rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s. Bottrop Hauptbahnof is a railway station in Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the Oberhausen-Osterfeld Süd – Hamm railway and Essen–Bottrop railway and is served by RE and S-Bahn services operated by DB and NordWestBahn. History On 12 November 1879, the Royal Westphalian Railway Company opened the Horst–Osterfeld section of its Welver-Sterkrade line, but failed to build a station in Bottrop city. Just one year later the company was nationalised and the line was partly dismantled. Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof
Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Recklinghausen in Germany. History The original station opened in 1870 by the Cologne-Minden Railway Company as part of the construction of the Hamburg-Venlo railway. During the Second World War, on April 1, 1945, a heavy bombing raid mostly destroyed the station and tracks. It is commemorated by the bunker built next to the station, in which the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen was established in 1950. An outstanding feature of the architecture of the station building with its glass front is now the clock tower. The new bus station was built in 1998. Up until the renovation of the building, a plaque commemorating the 5000th kilometer of electrified rail of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, was located in the station. The plaque has been missing since the completion of the renovation. The Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn (german: S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr) is a polycentric and electrically driven S-train network covering the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region in the German federated state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This includes most of the Ruhr (and cities such as Dortmund, Duisburg and Essen), the Berg cities of Wuppertal and Solingen and parts of the Rhineland (with cities such as Cologne and Düsseldorf).
