Never Ending Tour 2011
The Never Ending Tour is the popular name for Bob Dylan's endless touring schedule since June 7, 1988. In 2011, Dylan played a total of 89 shows, split across four legs, with shows in Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the US. Background The tour started off with a concert in Taiwan, the first of Dylan's career. Then he, along with his band, performed two concerts in China, one in Beijing and one in Shanghai. These concerts were controversial and deemed by the media as Dylan 'selling out'. Dylan however did not see it that way at all. The concerts amongst the Chinese audience were successful. After completing a tour of Asia and moving across to Australia and New Zealand, Dylan and the band performed an 11 date tour of Europe visiting several festivals such as Live at the Marquee, London Feis, Summer Sound Festival, Bergen Calling and Peace & Love (festival), Peace & Love. Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture. The Workers' Gymnasium (official name) is an indoor arena located west of the Workers' Stadium in Beijing, China. It was inaugurated in 1961 for the 26th World Table Tennis Championships. It hosted the Boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics, boxing events at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the Judo events at the 2008 Summer Paralympics. West Coast Blues & Roots Festival
The West Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival is an annual music festival held in Fremantle, Western Australia. It features many blues and roots performers, both international and local. History The festival was founded by Sunset Events and began as a two-day event in 2004 and was called the 'Sunset Live's Botanic Blues, Roots and Soul' held at Kings Park, Western Australia. From 2005, the event became a one-day event and was known as the West Coast Blues & Roots held at the Esplanade Park, Fremantle. In 2007, the event expanded to a two-day event and followed on into 2008. The 2009 event saw a return to a single day format. In 2010, the festival moved to Fremantle Park and has been there since 2010.
