State Route 759 (SR 759) is a short state highway in Douglas County, Nevada serving the county's airport facility. Route description State Route 759 begins at U.S. Route 395, approximately north of the town limits of Minden in the Johnson Lane community. From there, the highway heads east along Airport Road past some farm fields and businesses. After traveling about , SR 759 ends at the intersection of Heybourne Road, in front of the main entrance to the Minden–Tahoe Airport. History SR 759 was designated during the 1976 renumbering of Nevada's state highway system on July 1, 1976. The change was first seen on state highway maps in 1991. Minden, Nevada
Minden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. The population was 3,001 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Douglas County and is adjacent to the town of Gardnerville. The Douglas campus of the Western Nevada College is located in Minden. History It was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr., who named it after the town of Minden, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was near his father's birthplace. A large share of the first settlers were Germans. Minden was founded on company land of the Dangberg Home Ranch and Dangberg commissioned most of the town's early buildings. Minden has had a post office since 1906. Use of sundown siren and sundown town status Minden sounds a " sundown siren" at 6pm almost every evening since 1917, originally signifying that members of the Washoe Indian tribe were required to leave town by 6:30pm or face jail or fine. Douglas County is a county in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Nevada. As of th2020 Census the population was 49,488. Its county seat is Minden. Douglas County comprises the Gardnerville Ranchos, NV Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Reno–Carson City– Fernley, NV Combined Statistical Area. History The town of Genoa in Douglas County was the first permanent settlement in Nevada. Genoa was settled in 1851 by Mormon traders selling goods to settlers on their way to California. Minden–Tahoe Airport
Minden–Tahoe Airport is a general aviation airport serving the Carson Valley in Douglas County, Nevada, United States, including the towns of Minden, Gardnerville and Genoa, Nevada; and Lake Tahoe to the west. The airport is about five miles north of Minden. It is home to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center and regional firefighting air tanker base. The airport is a mecca for soaring, and many North American and world records have been flown out of Minden in the many gliders that it hosts. Gliders are usually towed to altitudes of over the airport, and they are often able to make out and return flights to the White Mountains, Owens Valley, and Eastern Nevada, often covering distances of over .
