Nevada was a Portuguese duo in the 1980s, active between 1987 and 1991. Jorge Mendes and Alfredo Azinheira represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 The Eurovision Song Contest 1987 was the 32nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Brussels, Belgium, following the country's victory at the with the song "J'aime la vie" by Sandra Kim. The Eurovision Song Contest 1987 was the 32nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Brussels, Belgium, following the country's victory at the with the song "J'aime la vie" by Sandra Kim. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster RTBF, Radio-télévision belge de la Communauté française (RTBF), the contest was held at the Brussels Expo, Centenary Palace on 9 May 1987 (also Europe Day) and was hosted by French-Belgian singer Viktor Lazlo. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with and returning to the competition after their absences the previous year. This set the record for the highest number of competing countries up until that point. Dora Maria Reis Dias de Jesus (born 20 May 1966 in Lisbon) is a retired Portuguese singer. She represented Portugal twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. Portugal was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway. Before Eurovision Festival da Canção 1986 The Portuguese national final to select their entry, the ''Festival RTP da Canção 1986'', was held on 22 March at the Rádio e Televisão de Portugal Studios in Lisbon, and was hosted by Henrique Mendes and Maria Helena Fialho Gouveia, who hosted the very first Portuguese Contest in 1964. Mendes and Fialho Gouveia introduced and made light commentary on the songs, which were taped in advance for the television audience. Each television region in Portugal (Ponta Delgada, Funchal, Porto and Lisbon) submitted three songs for this year's Festival. An "expert" jury decided the winner, and only the placement of the top three songs were made public.
