Netley Creek Provincial Park
Netley Creek Provincial Park is a Manitoba provincial park on the west shore of the Red River north of Selkirk, Manitoba at the mouth of Netley Creek. It provides visitors with access to these waterways and adjacent Netley-Libau Marsh. The area was declared a provincial park in 1974. It is in size. The park is in the Gimli ecodistrict of the Interlake Plain ecoregion part of the Boreal Plains ecozone. The Red River is prone to flooding in the spring. The increasing severity of the impact of high water on the park infrastructure and neighbouring cottage leases resulted in a policy to allow much of the park to return to natural vegetation. Interlake Region
The Interlake Region is an informal geographic region of the Canadian province of Manitoba that lies roughly between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The region comprises 14 rural municipalities, one city (the City of Selkirk), five towns ( Arborg Riverton, Stonewall, Teulon and Winnipeg Beach) and one village, Dunnottar. The largest population centre in the region is Selkirk. The second largest is the town of Stonewall. Argyle, Manitoba, is the small hamlet that is located on the Principal Meridian of Canada, near the middle of the Interlake Region. Selkirk, Manitoba
Selkirk is a city in the western Canadian province of Manitoba, located on the Red River about northeast of the provincial capital Winnipeg. It has a population of 10,504 as of the 2021 census. The mainstays of the local economy are tourism, a steel mill, and a psychiatric hospital. A vertical lift bridge over the Red River connects Selkirk with the smaller town of East Selkirk. The city is connected to Winnipeg via Highway 9 and is served by the Canadian Pacific Railway. The city was named in honour of Scotsman Thomas Douglas, 5th Earl of Selkirk, who obtained the grant to establish a colony in the Red River area in 1813. Netley, officially referred to as Netley Abbey, is a village on the south coast of Hampshire, England. It is situated to the south-east of the city of Southampton, and flanked on one side by the ruins of Netley Abbey and on the other by the Royal Victoria Country Park. The Boreal Plains Ecozone, as defined by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), is a terrestrial Ecozones of Canada, ecozone in the western Canada, Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. It also has minor extensions into northeastern British Columbia and south-central Northwest Territories. The region extends over 779,471 km2, of which 58,981 km2 is conserved (7.6 percent).
