Criddle/Vane Homestead Provincial Park
Criddle/Vane Homestead Provincial Park was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 2004. The park is in size. The park is considered to be a Class III protected area under the IUCN protected area management categories. Entomology Aweme was the name given to their homestead and the surrounding region by the Criddle and Vane families. This region is the location of the longest continuous observation of insect activity and variety at a single area in Manitoba, much of it represented by voucher specimens in collections across North America. The most significant collections of this material are held by the Canadian National Collection of Insects, Arachnids and Nematodes (CNC) in Ottawa and the J.B. Wallis Museum of Entomology at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Colvin Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in Manitoba, Canada, designated by the Government of Manitoba in 2010. The park is in size. It is considered a Class Ib protected area under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) protected-area management categories. The park protects a wilderness area in the List of ecoregions in North America (CEC)#Taiga Shield, Selwyn Lake ecoregion, within the transition zone between the boreal forest and tundra known as ''the land of little sticks''. Trees in this zone are stunted due to the presence of permafrost. The most recent glacial period left many eskers, deposits of sand and gravel up to in height. Caribou River Provincial Wilderness Park is a provincial park in extreme north-central Manitoba, Canada. It is the northernmost provincial park in Manitoba, and borders the southern Nunavut border. The park is in size, and was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 1995. The park is considered to be a Class Ib protected area under the IUCN protected area management categories. It protects an area of the Taiga Shield Ecozone (CEC), including boreal forest, rivers and lakes, and low-lying wetlands forming extensive peatlands (bogs and fens).
