The Netherlands competed at the 2023 European Games, in Kraków and Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Małopolska, Poland from 21 June to 2 July 2023. This was the third appearance of the Netherlands at the Games. Former Dutch judoka Mark Huizinga served as Head of mission, Chef de Mission. Medalists Archery The Netherlands competed in archery. Artistic swimming competitions at the 2023 European Games in Oswiecim were held from 21 to 25 June, at the Oswiecim Aquatics Centre. Unlike in 2015, these events represent a full European Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships, the first ever held outside a wider European Aquatics Championships, and included mixed sex competition for the first time - historically, like Rhythmic gymnastics and netball, artistic swimming had been viewed as a female only sport. Badminton At The 2023 European Games – Mixed Doubles
The mixed doubles badminton tournament at the 2023 European Games was played from 26 June to 2 July 2023 in Arena Jaskółka, Tarnów. A total of 32 players in 16 pairs competed at the tournament, four of which pairs was seeded. Reigning champions, Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith of Great Britain return to defend their titles. Competition format The tournament starts with a group phase round-robin which will eliminate 8 pairs, followed by a single-elimination knockout stage. For the group stage, the pairs are divided into four groups of four. Each group plays a round-robin. The top two pairs in each group advanced to the knockout rounds. The knockout stage is a three-round single elimination tournament without a bronze medal match. Matches are played best-of-three games. Each game is played to 21, except that a player must win by 2 unless the score reaches 30–29. Badminton at the 2023 European Games was held at Arena Jaskółka, Tarnów, Poland from 26 June to 2 July. The badminton programme in 2023 included men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions. The event was functioned as the 2023 European Badminton Championships. Qualification Qualification was decided entirely by European rankings, using the BWF World Ranking system with non-European players removed. NOCs could enter up to two entries per event, provided that both entrants were in the top 8 individuals, or top 4 doubles pairs in the relevant European list - Denmark (twice), France and Great Britain were able to avail of this rule. Selena Piek (born 30 September 1991) is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her current partner is Cheryl Seinen for women's doubles and Robin Tabeling for mixed doubles.
