2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. These issues caused the final total to stand at 179 nations (180 including the Athlete Refugee Team), the lowest number since Tokyo 1991. A record 29 countries won at least one gold medal during the championships. Peru, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria won the ...

World Athletics Championships
The World Athletics Championships (until 2019 known as the World Championships in Athletics) are a biennial athletics competition organized by World Athletics (formerly IAAF, International Association of Athletics Federations). Alongside the Olympic Games, they represent the highest level championships of senior international outdoor athletics competition for track and field athletics globally, including marathon running and race walking. Separate World Championships are held by World Athletics for certain other outdoor events, including cross-country running and half-marathon, as well as indoor and age-group championships. The World Championships were started in 1976 in response to the International Olympic Committee dropping the men's 50 km walk from the Olympic programme for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, despite its constant presence at the games since 1932. The IAAF chose to host its own world championship event instead, a month and a half after the Olympics.

European Athletics Championships
The European Athletics Championships is a biennial (from 2010) athletics event organised by the European Athletics Association and is recognised as the elite continental outdoor athletics championships for Europe. Editions First held, for men only, in 1934 in Turin, and separately for women for the first time in Vienna in 1938, the Championships took place every four years following the end of the World War II, with the exception of the 1969 and 1971 editions, becoming a joint men's and women's competition from the third edition in 1946 in Oslo. Since 2010, they have been organised every two years, and when they coincide with the Summer Olympics, the marathon and racewalking events are not contested. From 2016, a half-marathon event has been held in those Olympic years, and both the marathon and half-marathon events held as part of the Championships also function as the principle European elite team events at those distances. In 2018 and 2022, the European Athletics Champi ...

Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events, only some of which would be broadcast. Events losing Diamond Discipline status would feature on the World Athletics Continental Tour, which will replace the IAAF World Challenge as the second tier of track and field meetings. Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. The full sponsorship name is the Wanda Diamond League, the result of an agreement with Wanda Group that was announced in December 2019. While the Golden League was formed to increase the profile of the leading European athletics competitions, the Diamond League's aim is to "enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by going outside Europe for the first time." In addition to the original Golden League members (except Berlin) and other traditional European competitions, the series now includes events in China, Qatar, Morocco, and the United States. 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships – Women's 4 × 400 Metres Relay
The women's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships took place on 20 March 2022. Summary The United States was the fastest qualifying team from the morning heats but it was Junelle Bromfield from the slowest qualifying team, Jamaica who appeared to take a slight lead through the first two turns. From the cones, Lieke Klaver, running her fifth fast 400 metres within about 56 hours, accelerated Netherlands past Bromfield to take the lead at the bell. USA's Na'Asha Robinson tried to get past Klaver but was held off, forced to running wide through the penultimate turn. Bromfield then went by on the inside, chasing after Klaver. Then Natalia Kaczmarek came up to put Poland into third place before the handoff. Eveline Saalberg held off Janieve Russell as the field stayed in the same order through three turns. 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships – Women's 400 Metres
The women's 400 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships took place on 18 and 19 March 2022. Summary Shaunae Miller-Uibo entered these championships with no other races this season, but as the two time Olympic gold medalist, her credentials preceded her. Each round was a season best for her. After being the #3 semi-finalist, she was drawn into lane 6, the widest turn favorable to her long stride. Running two turns in lanes before breaking, Miller-Uibo reached the cones with the slightest of a margin ahead of Femke Bol, the #3 400 metres hurdler of all time outdoors. As the athletes collapsed to lane 1, Miller-Uibo's long strides put her solidly into the lead ahead of Bol, as the rest of the competitors fell into line behind them. Aliyah Abrams and Lieke Klaver traded elbows as Klaver kept Abrams to the outside, while Abrams maintained a slight advantage but couldn't get in front. Other than that battle, the finish order was set with a lap to go. Bol coul ...
