2013 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Discus Throw
The men's discus throw at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 12–13 August. The three automatic qualifiers turned out to be the three players in this event. On the second throw of the competition Piotr Małachowski took the lead which lasted for about a minute before Gerd Kanter made his first attempt. It was Robert Harting's second attempt that took the lead he would not relinquish. In the fourth round he unleashed his winner at 69.11. Between World Championships and Olympics, he continued his streak of four straight golds. The men's high jump at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 13–15 August. Douwe Amels
Douwe Jorn Amels (born 16 September 1991) is a Dutch track and field athlete who specialises in the high jump. He won the gold medal at the 2023 European Indoor Championships, becoming the first Dutchman ever to win gold in the event and the first high jump medallist at these championships since 1977. Amels claimed also gold at the 2013 European Under-23 Championships. He represented Netherlands at the World Championships in Athletics in 2013 and 2019. He is the joint Dutch indoor record holder for the high jump, and won almost 20 national titles (outdoors and indoors). 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Marathon
The men's marathon at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium and Moscow streets on 17 August. Coming through the half marathon in 1:05:10, the lead pack stayed formed until around the 30K mark with still about 13 with that group. Over the next 5K, contenders began to fall off the pace, first a pack of six were left, with two Ugandans; reigning Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich and Jackson Kiprop, with three Ethiopians; Lelisa Desisa, Tadese Tola and Tsegaye Kebede and Peter Kimeli Some the lone Kenyan. Kiprop fell back but Kentaro Nakamoto fought his way back to the pack as Kiprotich began experimenting with surges. Some and then Nakamoto started to fall behind. Michel Butter
Michel Butter (born 5 November 1985) is a Dutch long-distance runner. He was the silver medallist over 10,000 metres at the 2007 European Athletics U23 Championships and represented his country at the 2008 European Cross Country Championships, coming ninth in the senior men's race. Butter was the winner of the Tilburg Warandeloop in 2008 and won the half marathon at the 2009 Berenloop road race. He was 16th in the race at the 2010 European Cross Country Championships. He made his marathon debut at the 2011 Utrecht Marathon and won on his first attempt with a time of 2:17:35 hours. The race was reduced to a national level event that year as prize money was directly solely to Dutch runners. He significantly improved his best time at the 2011 Amsterdam Marathon, where his time of 2:12:59 hours brought him the Dutch national title and 15th position overall. At the 2012 Boston Marathon, he was seventh and the top European in a race slowed by hot conditions.
