Nestlé Candy Shop (formerly The Willy Wonka Candy Company) was a confectionery brand owned and licensed by the Swiss corporation Nestlé. In 2018, the branding and production rights were sold to the Ferrero Group, and as a result, the brand was discontinued. History Origins The previous inception of the Wonka brand came from materials licensed from the British author Roald Dahl. His classic 1964 children's novel, ''Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'', and its film adaptations are the sources of both the packaging and the marketing styles of the Wonka brand. Dahl had licensed the "Wonka" name to film director Mel Stuart. The film's producer, David L. Wolper, convinced the Quaker Oats Company to advance $3 million to finance the film in exchange for the right to use the Wonka name to sell candy bars. Bottle Caps are sweet tablet candies made to look like metal soda bottle caps in grape, cola, orange, root beer, and cherry flavors. Bottle Caps candy was originally introduced by Breaker Confections in 1972. They are currently sold by the Ferrara Candy Company. Bottle Caps have a tart but slightly sweet taste to them, not wholly dissimilar to Smarties Candy Company's ''Smarties'' (''Rockets'' outside the U.S.), SweeTarts or Runts, but with soda flavors and altered shapes. Bottle Caps were originally sold in green pouches. They currently are available in purple packages weighing and containing approximately 24 pieces. Wacky Wafers
Wacky Wafers are a candy sold by Leaf Brands, LLC. They are shaped about the size of an United States, American Half dollar (United States coin), half dollar coin and come in five flavors: banana, green apple, watermelon, orange, and strawberry. Sold in a clear plastic wrapper, you can see the long strip of multi-colored and flavored Wacky Wafers inside. Before being purchased by Leaf, they were part of The Willy Wonka Candy Company line available in the United States. Wacky Wafers started with four flavors, then began to advertise a "NEW GREEN APPLE!" Tart 'n' Tinys
Tart 'n' Tinys are small, fruit-flavored candies distributed by Leaf Brands. Tart 'n' Tiny's were originally manufactured by the Wonka company in five colors, bluish-purple (grape), yellow (lemon), orange (orange), red (cherry), and green (lime). In 2015 when they were reintroduced, they added a new color, light blue (blue raspberry). The original incarnation of Tart 'n' Tinys candies were small cylinders of compressed dextrose. The candy had a chalky appearance and consistency, with a firm crunch that would crumble in the mouth, similar to SweeTarts or Smarties. Punky's was a candy sold by The Willy Wonka Candy Company in the late-1980s and early-1990s. They came in a variety of sweet and sour fruit flavors. Punky's were small, oval in shape, and had a somewhat rough texture, with some slightly larger sugar crystals embedded in the candies. The box art featured the candies "dressed" in punk fashion. Oompas
Oompas, now discontinued, were candy produced under the Willy Wonka brand name. They were labeled as ‘Peanut Butter Oompas’. The candy produced from 1971 to 1983 was similar to today's Reese's Pieces and peanut butter M&M's (though bigger). Under the candy coating was a candy disk of one-half peanut butter, and one-half chocolate. In 1980, they were briefly available in a chocolate and strawberry (instead of peanut butter) variety. In 2001, Wonka, now a Nestlé subsidiary, revived the brand name for a chewy Skittles-like candy that came in a variety of fruit flavors: Green Apple, Cherry, Lemon, Orange, Grape, and Strawberry. Rowntree's Randoms are a jelly sweet produced by Nestlé under its Rowntree's brand. The sweet was launched in the United Kingdom, UK on 18 May 2009. Product information The sweets have six natural fruit flavours: blackcurrant, cherry, strawberry, orange (fruit), orange, lime (fruit), lime and lemon and four different textures: regular jelly, foam-backed jelly, foamy sweet and liquid-filled foam-backed jelly. Spree is a candy manufactured by The Willy Wonka Candy Company, a brand owned by the Ferrara Candy Company unit of Ferrero SpA.
