Nerodimë E Poshtme
Nerodimë e Poshtme or Donje Nerodimlje ( sr-Cyrl, Доње Неродимље) is an archaeological site and village situated west of the city of Ferizaj, Kosovo. Several archaeological trenches were investigated at this location in 1988 (which is close to the Orthodox cemetery). Villa Complex The excavations resulted in the discovery of a villa complex that was possibly constructed during the Late Antique period. The villa was built around an atrium with a polychrome floor mosaic, using geometrical and figural motifs. According to researchers involved in the dig, the first phase was probably constructed during the 4th century AD, with reconstruction possibly taking place during the 5th and 6th century AD. The discovered floor mosaic is set within a rectangular room and an adjoining apse, which may have served as a triclinium (a dining room). Dardania (Roman Province)
Dardania (; grc, Δαρδανία; la, Dardania) was a Roman province in the Central Balkans, initially an unofficial region in Moesia (87–284), and then a province administratively part of the Diocese of Moesia (293–337). It was named after the tribe of the Dardani who inhabited the region in classical antiquity prior to the Roman conquest. Background Dardania is named after the Dardani, a tribe that lived in the region and formed the Kingdom of Dardania in the 4th century BC. The eastern parts of the region were at the Thraco-Illyrian contact zone. In archaeological research, Illyrian names are predominant in western Dardania (present-day Kosovo), while Thracian names are mostly found in eastern Dardania (present-day south-eastern Serbia). District of Ferizaj is one of the districts of Republic of Kosovo. Ferizaj is the seat of the district. Municipalities The district of Ferizaj consists of five municipalities and 126 settlements. Dardanians (Balkans)
The Dardani (; grc, Δαρδάνιοι, Δάρδανοι; la, Dardani) or Dardanians were a Paleo-Balkan people, who lived in a region that was named Dardania after their settlement there. They were among the oldest Balkan peoples, and their society was very complex. The Dardani were the most stable and conservative ethnic element among the peoples of the central Balkans, retaining for several centuries an enduring presence in the region. Most ancient sources classify Dardanians as Illyrians. Strabo and Appian explicitly referred to them as Illyrians.
