Nematalosa Nasus
The Bloch's gizzard shad (''Nematalosa nasus''), also known as gizzard shad, hairback, long-finned gizzard shad, long-ray bony bream and thread-finned gizzard shad, are a widespread and common, small to medium-sized anadromous fish found in all marine, freshwater and brackish waters throughout Indo-West Pacific, towards eastward of Andaman Sea, South China Sea and the Philippines to Korean peninsula. Nematalosa Flyensis
''Nematalosa flyensis'', the Fly River gizzard or Fly River gizzard shad, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish within the family Clupeidae. The species is endemic to New Guinea, and is only known to inhabit the Fly River, including its tributary Strickland River. Biology ''Nematalosa flyensis'' inhabits rivers and floodplains at depths down to 50 meters, but is not known if it also inhabits estuaries. Individuals are known to grow as big as in standard length. Conservation ''Nematalosa flyensis'' has been classified as 'Data deficient' by the IUCN Red List. Little is known about the population and threats of the species, and since its endemic to a single river system it could be susceptible to degradation, droughts, algal blooms An algal bloom or algae bloom is a rapid increase or accumulation in the population of algae in freshwater or marine water systems. It is often recognized by the discoloration in the water from the algae's pigments. The term ''algae'' ...

Clupeidae
Clupeidae is a family of ray-finned fishes, comprising, for instance, the herrings, shads, sardines, hilsa, and menhadens. The clupeoids include many of the most important food fishes in the world, and are also commonly caught for production of fish oil and fish meal. Many members of the family have a body protected with shiny cycloid (very smooth and uniform) scales, a single dorsal fin, and a fusiform body for quick, evasive swimming and pursuit of prey composed of small planktonic animals. Due to their small size and position in the lower trophic level of many marine food webs, the levels of methylmercury they bioaccumulate are very low, reducing the risk of mercury poisoning when consumed. Description and biology Clupeids are mostly marine forage fish, although a few species are found in fresh water. No species has scales on the head, and some are entirely scaleless. The lateral line is short or absent, and the teeth are unusually small where they are present at all. Clupe ...
