Nelli Zhiganshina
Nelli Nailevna Zhiganshina (russian: Нелли Наильевна Жиганшина; born 31 March 1987) is a Russian-born German ice dancer. With Alexander Gazsi, she is a six-time German national champion (2007, 2011–2015) and has won twelve international medals. They have placed as high as 6th at the European Championships and 10th at the World Championships. Personal life Nelli Zhiganshina was born on 31 March 1987 in Moscow. She is the elder sister of Ruslan Zhiganshin, who is a competitive ice dancer for Russia. Their mother is a children's skating coach. Zhiganshina passed a German citizenship test in 2011 and filed documents to renounce her Russian citizenship, as required by Germany. Ice Dancing
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Maxim Igorevich Zavozin (russian: Максим Игоревич Завозин; born March 2, 1985) is a former competitive ice dancer who appeared internationally for the United States and Hungary. With Nóra Hoffmann for Hungary, he is the 2010 Cup of Russia silver medalist and a two-time (2009, 2010) Hungarian national champion. With Morgan Matthews for the United States, he is the 2006 Four Continents silver medalist and 2005 World Junior champion. Personal life Zavozin was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He is the son of Soviet ice dancers Elena Garanina and Igor Zavozin. He competed in ballroom dancing in Russia from the age of 7 to 11. Nóra Hoffmann
Nóra Hoffmann (born 8 April 1985 in Budapest) is a Hungarian ice dancer. With Maxim Zavozin, she is the 2010 Cup of Russia silver medalist and a two-time (2009, 2010) Hungarian national champion. With Attila Elek, she is a two-time (2003–2004) World Junior silver medalist, the 2003 JGP Final champion, and a five-time (2003–2007) Hungarian national champion. Career With Elek Hoffmann trained in both ice dancing and single skating until age 11 when she broke her leg on a jump. She was paired with Attila Elek by coaches in the early 1990s. They twice won the silver medal at Junior Worlds, in 2003 and 2004. Hoffmann / Elek were silver medalists at the 2002–2003 Junior Grand Prix Final and won the title in 2003–2004. The 2011 European Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2010–11 season. Skaters competed in the categories of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The 2011 competition was held from 24 to 30 January 2011 at the PostFinance Arena in Bern, Switzerland. The 2007 Skate Canada International was the second event of six in the 2007–08 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series.
