Neko Case
Neko Richelle Case (; born September 8, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and member of the Canadian indie rock group the New Pornographers. Case has a powerful, untrained contralto voice, which has been described by contemporaries and critics as a "flamethrower," "a powerhouse hichseems like it might level buildings," "a 120-mph fastball," and a "vocal tornado". Critics also note her idiosyncratic, "cryptic," "imagistic" lyrics, and credit her as a significant figure in the early 21st-century American revival of the tenor guitar. Case's body of work has spanned and drawn on a range of traditions including country, folk, art rock, indie rock, and pop and is frequently described as defying or avoiding easy generic classification. The Forecastle Festival is a three-day music, art, activism festival held annually in Louisville, Kentucky. The Corn Sisters were a Canadian alternative country act formed in Vancouver in 1998 as a side project by Neko Case and Carolyn Mark. Elsie Schevchenka (December 2, 1929 – April 17, 2013), better known as Ella Waldek (Mecouch), was an American professional wrestler. The tenor guitar or four-string guitar is a slightly smaller, four-string relative of the steel-string acoustic guitar or electric guitar. A contralto () is a type of classical female singing voice whose vocal range is the lowest female voice type. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Maow
Maow was a Canadians, Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A pop punk combo, the band was part of the "cuddlecore" scene led by Cub (band), cub. Maow consisted of guitarist/singer Tobey Black, bassist/singer Corrina Beesley-Hammond and drummer/singer Neko Case, who had been with Cub. History The band came together in 1994, when Americans Case and Beesley-Hammond, who had been at art school together (at what is now Emily Carr University of Art and Design), joined with Black, also an American who was studying in Vancouver. Their original name was 'Meow'; they changed it when a New York band of the same name objected.
