Neil Herron
Neil Herron (born 1 June 1994) is a Scottish rugby union player at the Centre position. Herron has represented Scotland at under-17, under-18, under-20 levels and on the Scotland 7s. He played for West of Scotland and Glasgow Hawks. He secured a 7s Elite Development Programme place in 2012 with West of Scotland and secured another EDP placement in 2013 and 2014 with Glasgow Warriors. Centre (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. Props push in the scrums, while the hooker tries to secure the ball for their team by "hooking" it back with their heel. Scotland National Rugby Sevens Team
The Scotland national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games. The head coach is Ciaran Beattie, supported by manager Sean Lamont and skills coach Graham Shiel. During 2006, the side were in danger of no longer competing in the Sevens World Series due to the financial problems faced by the Scottish Rugby Union. However, they gained a reprieve when the International Rugby Board announced that a leg of the Sevens World Series would be held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, starting in 2007. The SRU then announced that the Scotland sevens team would compete in all eight legs of the Sevens World Series, and draw players from the country's national academy. Scotland National Under-20 Rugby Union Team
The Scotland national under-20 rugby union team participates in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship. Their highest placement is 5th which they achieved in the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. The U20 side also compete in the Six Nations Under 20s Championship. Both tournaments began in 2008 and replaced the Under 19 or Under 21 championships. The World Rugby Under 20 Championship was known as the IRB Junior World Championship up to 2014. Prior to this, there were U19 and U21 tournaments for the World Rugby Championship. There was also a U21 tournament for the Six Nations from 2004. The Under 20 side is now the pinnacle of Scottish Rugby's age-grade system. The Scotland national under-18 rugby union team is the under-18 team of the Scotland national rugby union team in the sport of rugby union. History Under-18 became a recognised age-grade in European rugby in 2004. European Championship Scotland took part in the early editions of the European Under-18 Rugby Union Championship, coming third in 2005 and fourth in 2006, on both occasions playing Italy for third place. The team, after this did not take part in the competition again until 2011. Having missed out on participating in the elite division during the qualifying, the team was grouped in the tier-two first division. Glasgow Hawks is an amateur rugby union team in Glasgow, Scotland. They were Premiership Division One champions for three consecutive seasons from 2003–04 to 2005–06.
