Neil Cooper (footballer)
Neil Cooper (born 12 August 1958) is a Scottish former association football, footballer who, most recently, was manager of Inverurie Loco Works F.C., Inverurie Loco Works of the Highland Football League, Highland League. Playing career Cooper began his professional career with Aberdeen F.C., Aberdeen and made 12 appearances for the Dons. He moved to Barnsley F.C., Barnsley in 1979, then played for Grimsby Town F.C., Grimsby Town. He returned to Scotland in 1983 to play for St Mirren F.C., St Mirren, where he was part of the team which won the Scottish Cup in 1987. He was voted man of the match during the 1987 Scottish Cup Final. He left St Mirren in 1989 to play for Hibernian F.C., Hibernian for two years, before retiring in 1991. Later career After retiring from football, Neil Cooper returned to Aberdeen as part of the coaching staff, then became Assistant Manager to Paul Hegarty during his short spell as manager in 1999. Paul Hegarty
Paul Anthony Hegarty (born 25 July 1954 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish football player and manager. He was captain of Dundee United during their most successful era in the 1970s and 1980s, winning the Scottish league championship in 1983 and the Scottish League Cup twice. Hegarty won eight full international caps for Scotland. He has managed Forfar Athletic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Livingston and Montrose. Inverurie Loco Works
Inverurie Loco Works Football Club are a senior semi-professional football club from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, who currently play in the Scottish Highland Football League (SHFL). The club was founded in 1903 by workmen from the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNSR) who had their Locomotive, and Carriage and Wagon Workshops in Inverurie, hence from where the football club got its name. On National Railway Company 'Grouping' in 1923, the GNSR became part of the London & North Eastern Railway, one of the UK's big four railway companies at that time, and the football club lived on. The Locomotive Workshops themselves were formally closed in 1970 on the forming of British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Railways Board at that time.
