Ned Dowd
Ned Dowd (born May 26, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American film producer and former actor. Career After graduating from Bowdoin College in 1972, Dowd earned a master's degree at McGill University and played professional hockey. The film, ''Slap Shot'' (1977), written by his sister, Nancy Dowd, is based in part on his experiences playing in the minor leagues. Dowd appeared in the film as notorious hockey player Ogie Ogelthorpe. His wife, Nancy N. Dowd (not to be confused with his sister), also appears in the movie. He continued to occasionally act until 1996, but focused his career on becoming an assistant director and eventually a line producer. Wonder Boys (film)
''Wonder Boys'' is a 2000 comedy-drama film directed by Curtis Hanson and written by Steve Kloves. An international co-production between the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, it is based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Michael Chabon. Michael Douglas stars as professor Grady Tripp, a novelist who teaches creative writing at a university but has been unable to finish his second novel. The film was shot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including locations at Carnegie Mellon University, Chatham University, University of Pittsburgh, and Shady Side Academy. Other Pennsylvania locations included Beaver, Rochester and Rostraver Township. ''Apocalypto'' () is a 2006 action adventure film produced, co-written, and directed by Mel Gibson. The film features a cast of Native American and Indigenous Mexican actors consisting of Rudy Youngblood, Raoul Trujillo, Mayra Sérbulo, Dalia Hernández, Gerardo Taracena, Rodolfo Palacios, Bernardo Ruiz Juarez, Ammel Rodrigo Mendoza, Ricardo Diaz Mendoza, and Israel Contreras. All of the indigenous people depicted in the film were Maya. Similar to Gibson's earlier film ''The Passion of the Christ'', all dialogue is in a modern approximation of the ancient language of the setting. Bowdoin College
Bowdoin College ( ) is a private liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. When Bowdoin was chartered in 1794, Maine was still a part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The college offers 34 majors and 36 minors, as well as several joint engineering programs with Columbia, Caltech, Dartmouth College, and the University of Maine.
