Nectar Guide
Nectar guides are markings or patterns seen in flowers of some angiosperm species, that guide pollinators to their Pollination syndrome, rewards. These markings may appear as lines, spots, or "blotches". Such patterns are also known as "pollen guides" and "honey guides", though some authorities argue for the abandonment of such terms in favour of ''floral guides'' (see, for example, Dinkel & Lunau). Pollination Nectar guides serve as an Signalling theory, interspecific signal that the flower contains a reward. Rewards commonly take the form of nectar (plant), nectar, pollen, or both; however, plants may also produce oil, resins, Floral scent, scents, or waxes. ''Xysticus'' is a genus of ground Thomisidae, crab spiders described by C. L. Koch in 1835, belonging to the order Araneae, family Thomisidae. The genus name is derived from the Ancient Greek root ''xyst'', meaning "scraped, scraper". They are annuals and herbaceous perennials, and the largest genus in the Antirrhineae tribe of the plantain family Plantaginaceae. Lars Chittka, FLS, FRES, FRSB (born April 1963) is a German zoologist, ethologist and ecologist distinguished for his work on the evolution of sensory systems and cognition, using insect-flower interactions as a model. Life and career Born in Germany, Chittka studied Biology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Free University of Berlin. He obtained his PhD degree under the supervision of Randolf Menzel at the Free University of Berlin. Yellow is the color between green and orange on the spectrum of light. It is evoked by light with a dominant wavelength of roughly 575585 nm.
