Necron (comics)
Necron is the title character of an Italian humorous-horror adult comics miniseries published between 1981 and 1985. Publication history ''Necron'' debuted in January 1981, published by editor Edifumetto; the authors, writer Mirka Martini and illustrator Roberto Raviola, signed the comics with the pen names Ilaria Volpe and Magnus. ''Necron'' was initially intended to be a single episode, but the publisher convinced the authors to make a whole miniseries. The series closed after 11 episodes in November 1981, then the character returned in a twelfth out of series episode in 1983, and finally in two special issues in June 1985. During the years, the series was republished and several anthologic books were released. Roberto Raviola
Magnus, pseudonym of Roberto Raviola (May 30, 1939 – February 5, 1996), was an Italian comic book artist, regarded as one of the foremost cartoonists of all time in his country. Biography Born in Bologna in 1939, he studied at Academy of Fine Arts. Raviola lived there for his whole life. Having worked as an illustrator, he started his comics career and his association with Max Bunker in 1964 with the series ''Kriminal''. He took the pseudonym Magnus, from the Latin phrase ''Magnus Pictor Fecit'' ("A Great Painter Did It"). During the 1960s the duo became a mainstay of Italian comics creating successful series such as ''Kriminal'' and ''Satanik'' (1964), '' Dennis Cobb'', ''Gesebel'' (1966, only first six stories by Magnus) and '' Maxmagnus'' (1968). The catch-all term adult comics typically denotes comic books, comic magazines, comic strips or graphic novels that are marketed either mainly or strictly towards adult (or mature) readers. Mirka Martini
Mirka ( ar, مِركة) is a Palestinian village in the West Bank, located Southwest of the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 1,555 inhabitants in mid-year 2006. History Just southeast of the village (at grid 172/199) is a site where sherds mainly from the Persian era have been found. Pottery sherds from the early and late Roman, Byzantine, early Muslim and Medieval eras have been found at the village site. Ottoman era Mirka, like all of Palestine, was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire in 1517. ''Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus'' is an 1818 novel written by English author Mary Shelley. ''Frankenstein'' tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a sapient creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was 18, and the first edition was published anonymously in London on 1 January 1818, when she was 20. Her name first appeared in the second edition, which was published in Paris in 1821. ''Ligne claire'' ( French for "clear line", ; nl, klare lijn) is a style of drawing created and pioneered by Hergé, the Belgian cartoonist and creator of ''The Adventures of Tintin''. It uses clear strong lines sometimes of varied width and no hatching, while contrast is downplayed as well. Cast shadows are often illuminated, and the style often features strong colours and a combination of cartoonish characters against a realistic background. The name was coined by Joost Swarte in 1977.
