Tecumseh, Nebraska
Tecumseh is a city in and the county seat of Johnson County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,677 at the 2010 census. History Tecumseh was originally called Frances, and under the latter name was established in 1856. The label of Frances has long been falsely attributed as the name of the wife of Col. Richard M Johnson, the namesake of Johnson County. Johnson's only marriage was to Julia Chinn, a common-law spouse. Julia Chinn, was an octoroon slave (one-eighth African, seven-eighths European in ancestry), born into slavery around 1790. Some historians have accepted the possibility that the legislature intended to name the county seat after Francis Burt, the first Governor of the Nebraska Territory. Shortly after being founded, the name was changed to Tecumseh after the Native American Chief said to have been killed by Johnson during the Battle of the Thames. Elk Creek is a village in Johnson County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 67 at the 2020 census. History Elk Creek got its start ''circa'' 1873, following construction of the Atchison and Nebraska Railroad through the territory. It took its name from Elk Creek nearby, which was named for the elk once seen there. In 2011, interest in deep-mining of deposits of rare earth minerals southwest of Elk Creek was rekindled. Stella, Nebraska
Stella is a village in Richardson County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 150 at the 2020 census. History The earliest settlers in the Stella area arrived in about 1855. An August 1881 public meeting of local farmers led to an arrangement for the Missouri Pacific Railroad to be extended to that point. Stella was platted the same year, and was named for Stella Clark, the daughter of the original owner of the town site. The track reached Stella in December 1881 and a station building was raised on January 7, 1882. The village was incorporated in 1882 and grew quickly. By fall 1882 there were 25 business firms in town. A 56-page "Souvenir" of the Stella Press was issued on April 1, 1901, recounting the steady growth of the town to that point, which proved to be the peak of the town population. Nemaha County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 7,074. Its county seat is Auburn. Richardson County is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,363. Its county seat is Falls City. Nebraska Highway 50 (N-50) is a north–south highway in the state of Nebraska. The southern terminus is at the Nebraska-Kansas border near Du Bois. The northern terminus is in the Millard neighborhood of Omaha at an intersection with U.S. Highway 275 (US 275) and N-92. It is a two lane highway except for the section from Springfield north to the southern edge of the Millard neighborhood in Omaha, which is a divided highway. Nebraska Highway 105 (N-105) is a state highway in Richardson, Pawnee, and Nemaha counties in Nebraska, United States. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with Nebraska Highway 8 south of Humboldt. Its northern terminus is at an intersection with Nebraska Highway 67 west of Brock. Route description Nebraska Highway 105 begins at an intersection with NE 8 south of Humboldt. It heads in a northbound direction through farmland, turning slightly to the northeast before entering Humboldt. Nebraska Highway 67 is a highway in southeastern Nebraska. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Highway 73 near Verdon. Its northern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Highway 34 near Nehawka.
