Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah
Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah is the former Vice-chancellor of the Begum Rokeya University. Career Kalimullah served as a professor of the Department of Public Administration of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Dhaka. Kalimullah as chairman of National Election Observation Council was set to observe the 2006 election where he raised questions about the voter list. Kalimullah is the chairperson of Jatiya Nirbachon Parjabekkhon Parishad also known as JANIPOP, an election monitoring group. On 1 June 2017, Kalimullah was appointed Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. His term as vice-chancellor was controversial and teachers at the university had campaigned for his removal. He was allegedly absent from campus 478 days out of 631 days. Begum Rokeya University
Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), formerly Rangpur University, is a government-financed public university in Bangladesh. It is the only general categorised university in Rangpur Division and the second public university in the region. It was named after the feminist writer and social worker Begum Rokeya. The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir
Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir (born 1 March 1942) is a Bangladeshi politician. He is a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chandpur-1 constituency since 2008, and was Minister of Home Affairs from 2011 to 2013. He is also an economist, civil servant, and writer in Bangladesh. Alamgir taught at the university until 1965. Joining the civil service that year, he served in numerous positions, for a total of 32 years. He held several positions with the Finance Ministry, in addition to regional posts. Beginning in the late 1990s, he was appointed to political positions when the Awami League was in power. He was detained without charges and tortured during 2002. The Digital Security Act, 2018 is a digital security law in Bangladesh. This act was passed with the aim of preventing the spread of racism; sectarianism; extremism; terrorist propaganda; and hatred against religious or ethnic minorities through social media, print media or any other electronic media. Any content over the internet or any other media that was deemed pornographic or otherwise inappropriate by the government could be punished by fines or prison terms of various lengths. It is a controversial law and it was feared that the law could be used to suppress dissenters against the government due to some of its provisions that are vague and ambiguous, open to interpretation or prone to abuse.
