Nazar (comedian)
Nazar (died 20 January 1991), was a Pakistani comedian and film actor. He debuted in films with a Punjabi language film ''Gul-Baloch'' which was released in 1944,In this film Famous Indian singer Mohammed Rafi was also introduced first time as playback singer. Nazar later played comedic role in Pakistan's first feature film '' Teri Yaad'' and Pakistan's first silver jubilee film ''Pheray'' (1949). As an actor, he appeared in many films and played lead role in film ''Judai'' (1950)‚ directed by Amin Malik. During the early era of Pakistani films, he worked in Lollywood extensively alongside film actress Zeenat. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honor the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1956. In 2002, following the 46th Annual Nigar Awards, Nigar Magazine announced its discontinuation of the awards due to the collapse of the Pakistani cinema industry. Baji (Pakistani Film)
''Baji'' is a 1963 Pakistani musical romance film directed by S. Suleman. The film features Nayyar Sultana, Darpan, Zeba, Agha Talish and Lehri. The film depicts the frustrations of a young widow due to her increasing age. The film didn't perform well at box office but received appreciable reviews. In 2018, the film was selected to screen at Lok Virsa Museum. It received 5 awards at 1963 Nigar Awards, including Best Actress for Sultana and Best scriptwriter. Plot Farzana a.k.a. 'Fari' commonly known as Baji in her circle of friends is a young widow, lives with some of her servants in a bungalow. Baji lives a lonely life and has no family members living with her. Lollywood ( ur, , translit=lâli vuḍ) refers to Pakistan's film industry based in Lahore, previously the base for both Punjabi and Urdu language film production. Lahore has been the center of Pakistani cinema since the partition of India in 1947. However, with Urdu film hub largely shifting to Karachi by 2007, film industry in Lahore became synonymous with Pakistani Punjabi film Industry.
