Baji (Pakistani Film)
''Baji'' is a 1963 Pakistani musical romance film directed by S. Suleman. The film features Nayyar Sultana, Darpan, Zeba, Agha Talish and Lehri. The film depicts the frustrations of a young widow due to her increasing age. The film didn't perform well at box office but received appreciable reviews. In 2018, the film was selected to screen at Lok Virsa Museum. It received 5 awards at 1963 Nigar Awards, including Best Actress for Sultana and Best scriptwriter. Plot Farzana a.k.a. 'Fari' commonly known as Baji in her circle of friends is a young widow, lives with some of her servants in a bungalow. Baji lives a lonely life and has no family members living with her. Nayyar Sultana
Nayyar Sultana (born Tayyaba Bano; 1937 – 27 October 1992), sometimes referred to in Pakistan as ''Malka-i-Jazbaat'' (Queen of Sentiments), was a Pakistani film actress. She became one of the foremost screen actresses of Lollywood in the 1950s and 1960s. Career She started her movie career with Anwar Kamal Pasha's film ''Qatil'' in 1955 as a supporting actress. Her parents were related to actress Shamim Bano, wife of famous Pakistani film producer/director Anwar Kamal Pasha. Later the same year, she landed the second lead in Humayon Mirza’s ''Intikhab (1955)''. Thereafter, she started performing lead roles with the screen name ''Nayyar Sultana''. Santosh Kumar (actor)
Syed Musa Abbas Raza, ( ur, ; 25 December 1925 – 11 June 1982) better known as Santosh Kumar ( ur, ), was a Pakistani film actor who was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. He was from an Urdu-speaking family from Lahore, Pakistan. His brother Darpan was also a film actor during the same period, while his other brother S. Suleman was a film director. Early life and career Santosh Kumar's birth name was Syed Musa Raza. He was born in 1925 in Lahore, British India. He graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad, British India. After the Partition of India in 1947, Santosh Kumar migrated to Lahore, Pakistan with his family. Owing to his education and awareness, Santosh Kumar was always designated to lead the entourage to represent Pakistan in meetings held abroad, and because of this became known as the foreign minister of the Pakistani film industry. Farida Khanum (Urdu language, Urdu: ) is a Pakistani Music of Pakistan#Classical music, classical singer from the city of Kolkata West Bengal, India, West Bengal. Naseem Begum
Naseem Begum ( ur, ), (24 February 1936 – 29 September 1971) was a popular, and well known Pakistani film playback singer. She was known as ''The Tradegy Queen'' for singing sorrowful and downhearted songs in films. She rose to prominence towards the end of the 1950s, and by 1964, she had won the prestigious Nigar Awards on four occasions. Despite originally being billed as a ''Second Noor Jehan'', Naseem Begum quickly carved out her own successful niche in the Pakistani film industry.
