Navarone (band)
Navarone is a Dutch alternative rock band, formed in Nijmegen in 2008. Biography Navarone originated as a musical project between lead singer Merijn van Haren and guitarist Kees Lewiszong. In their early years, still performing under the name Overthrow, they caught the attention of Golden Earring, eventually leading to a series of opening acts for their shows. Golden Earring's frontman Barry Hay came up with the idea of renaming their band to The Guns of Navarone. Even though the name was well received, the band thought the resemblance with the name Guns N' Roses was too close, so eventually they settled with the name Navarone. Their first EP was recorded and released in 2009, which led them to the final round of The Next Best Band contest, airplay on 3FM in Rob Stenders' Indecent Proposal, a number-one notation on KX-Radio, and a series of live performances, including one on Paaspop. Nijmegen (;; Spanish and it, Nimega. ''The Voice of Holland'', also known as ''TVOH'', is a Dutch reality TV singing competition, that became a near global TV format franchise, created by media tycoon John de Mol and musician Roel van Velzen, in the Netherlands airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland was hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. Starting from the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk was replaced by Chantal Janzen. The central focus of the show is the singing talent and quality of the contestants. Three or four coaches / jurors, themselves successful performing artists, train the talents in their teams, and occasionally perform with them. ''nrc•next'' () was a Dutch daily newspaper published in the Netherlands by Mediahuis. The first edition was released on 14 March 2006. It was stopped in March 2021. ''nrc•next'' was a morning edition tabloid, and its primary target group are young higher educated people. Formula The newspaper aimed at young, well-educated (HBO or university) readers in the 25-34 age group, most of whom did not read a newspaper, or read the free tabloids ''Metro'' and '' Spits''. Secondarily, ''nrc•next'' aimed at the 20-39 age group. The newspaper was intended for "the new generation of interested media-users who use news and information in a different way", according to NRC executive editor Folkert Jensma. The ninth season of the Dutch reality singing competition ''The Voice of Holland'' premiered on 2 November 2018 on RTL4. Hosts Martijn Krabbé, Wendy van Dijk, and Jamai Loman as well as three season 8 coaches, Waylon, and Ali B and Anouk all returned, while Sanne Hans was replaced with Lil Kleine.
