National Space Symposium
The premier gathering of the global space community, the Space Foundation’s Space Symposium (formerly the National Space Symposium) is held each Spring at The Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Attended by top-level representatives from the international space community, the Space Symposium features presentations and panels that provide insight into space developments and the latest thinking on critical industry issues; an expansive exhibit center that showcases the latest space technology; special event and awards presentations: targeted programs for specific groups, including young space professionals, the cyber community and educators and students; and, above all, ample opportunities for networking. The 2013 event attracted 9,000 total participants from more than 30 nations. USSPACECOM Commander Announces Initial Operational Capability At Space Symposium (6800850)
United States Space Command (USSPACECOM or SPACECOM) is a unified combatant command of the United States Department of Defense, responsible for military operations in outer space, specifically all operations 100 kilometers (62 miles) and greater above mean sea level. U.S. Space Command is responsible for the operational employment of space forces that are provided by the uniformed services of the Department of Defense. Space Command was originally created in September 1985 to provide joint command and control for all military forces in outer space and coordinate with the other combatant commands. SPACECOM was disestablished in 2002, and its responsibilities and forces were merged into United States Strategic Command. Space Foundation
The Space Foundation is an American nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for all sectors of the global space industry through space awareness activities, educational programs, and major industry events. It was founded in 1983. Locations Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Space Foundation's headquarters houses Space Foundation team offices, the Ackerman Conference Center and the Space Foundation Discovery Center. The Space Foundation also has an office in Washington, D.C., and representatives in Texas and Florida. The Broadmoor
The Broadmoor (stylized as THE BRODMOOR) is a hotel and resort in the Broadmoor neighborhood of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Broadmoor is a member of Historic Hotels of America of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its visitors have included heads of state, celebrities, and professional sports stars.
