National Security Act (India)
The National Security Act of 1980 is an act of the Indian Parliament promulgated on 23 September 1980 whose purpose is ''"to provide for preventive detention in certain cases and for matters connected therewith".'' The act extends to the whole of India. It Contains 18 sections. This act empowers the Central Government and State Governments to detain a person to prevent him/her from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of India, the relations of India with foreign countries, the maintenance of public order, or the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the community it is necessary so to do. The act also gives power to the governments to detain a foreigner in a view to regulate his presence or expel from the country. The act was passed in 1980 during the Indira Gandhi Government. National Security Act Of 1947
The National Security Act of 1947 ( Pub.L.br>80-253 61 Stat.br>495 enacted July 26, 1947) was a law enacting major restructuring of the United States government's military and intelligence agencies following World War II. The majority of the provisions of the act took effect on September 18, 1947, the day after the Senate confirmed James Forrestal as the first secretary of defense. The act merged the Department of the Army (renamed from the Department of War), the Department of the Navy, and the newly established Department of the Air Force (DAF) into the National Military Establishment (NME). The act also created the position of the secretary of defense as the head of the NME It established the United States Air Force under the DAF, which worked to separate the Army Air Forces into its own service. The National Security Act 2023 (c. 32) is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which introduced new measures intended to strengthen United Kingdom national security against espionage, interference in the political system, sabotage, and assassination. In a press release, the government stated that "The new powers will help ensure that the UK remains the hardest operating environment for malign activity undertaken by foreign actors", quoting MI5 Director General, Ken McCallum as saying "The National Security Act is a game changing update to our powers. We now have a modern set of laws to tackle today’s threats."
