National Hospital Of Tropical Diseases
The National Hospital of Tropical Diseases is a hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam. History Its founding can be traced back to the Cong Vong Hospital, a 1911 established facility for the treatment of infectious diseases. In 1929 this was expanded into the Robin Hospital. In March 1945 it was renamed to the Bach Mai Hospital. In 1989, the Institute of Clinical Medicine for Tropical Diseases was established, a merger between the Department of Infectious Diseases, Department of Microbiology, the Bach Mai Institute and the Department of Infectious Diseases of Hanoi Medical University. The Institute of Clinical Medicine for Tropical Diseases was awarded a Hero of Labor for its role in fighting the SARS outbreak. The Department of Infectious Diseases of the Hanoi Medical University is located inside the hospital, as well as the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit. Hanoi Medical University (HMU, vi, Đại học Y Hà Nội) is the oldest university of Vietnam and is located in Hanoi. HMU was founded in 1902 by French during the French colonisation under the name ''Indochina Medical College''. The Hero of Labor (or Labor Hero) ( vi, Anh hùng lao động) is the highest title of honor in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It is awarded (possibly posthumously) to individuals or collectives with outstanding achievements in labor. 2002–2004 SARS Outbreak
The 2002–2004 outbreak of SARS, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV or SARS-CoV-1), infected over 8,000 people from 29 countries and territories, and resulted in at least 774 deaths worldwide. The outbreak was first identified in Foshan, Guangdong, China, in November 2002. The World Health Organization (WHO) was notified of the outbreak in February 2003, and issued a global alert in March 2003. COVID-19 Pandemic In Vietnam
The COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The number of confirmed cases is the highest total in Southeast Asia, and the 13th highest in the world. Hanoi is the most affected locale with 1,609,473 confirmed cases and 1,221 deaths, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 612,746 cases and 19,984 deaths; however, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health has estimated that the real number of cases may be four to five times higher. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by a virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Northern Vietnam ( vi, Bắc Bộ) is one of three geographical regions within Vietnam.
