The Ukrainian Fencing Federation (Federation d'Escrime d'Ukraine; National Fencing Federation of Ukraine) commonly known by the acronym NFFU, established in 1992, is the Sport governing body, governing body of Ukrainian fencing. Through 2022, Ukrainian fencers won 230 medals combined in the Olympic Games, World championships, and European championships. History Early years The federation was established in 1992. It is headquartered in Kyiv, Ukraine. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Ukraine performed as an independent team for the first time. It included six athletes participating in individual competitions: Sergei Golubitsky (foil), Vadym Gutzeit (saber), Viktoriya Titova (épée), Yeva Vybornova (épée), and Oleksii Bryzghalov (foil). Golubitsky and Gutzeit took sixth place, and the Ukrainian team took 11th place with 2 points. Mariel Leigh Zagunis (born March 3, 1985) is an American sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympic champion in the individual sabre ( 2004 and 2008) and the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic fencing. Anfisa Serhiyivna Pochkalova ( uk, Анфіса Сергіївна Почкалова; born 1 March 1990) is a Ukrainian épée fencer. She is the 2009 world individual bronze medalist. Personal life Pochkalova was born 1 March 1990 in Lviv. She is a student at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture.
