National Democratic Movement (Pakistan)
The National Democratic Movement (NDM; ps, ملي جمهوري غورځنګ, translit=Millī Jumhūrī Ghōrźang; ur, قومی جمہوری تحریک) is a Pashtun nationalist, regionalist, and social-democratic political party in Pakistan. The NDM seeks to resist the "growing militarisation" and promotes a federal parliamentary system. It also aims to provide a platform to women and youth for organising their political activism. It was founded by Mohsin Dawar on 1 September 2021 in Peshawar. Mohsin Dawar was elected as the chairman and Jamila Gilani as the spokesperson. History Consultations about the need for formation of a new progressive party had been ongoing since December 2020. Mohsin Dawar
Mohsin Javed Dawar ( ps, ) is a Pakistani politician who is the chairman of the National Democratic Movement (NDM). He has been a member of the National Assembly since August 2018. He is the co-founder of a human rights movement, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). He has formerly served as president of the National Youth Organisation (NYO) and the Pashtun Students Federation (PSF), the allied wings of the Awami National Party (ANP). Political beginnings Mohsin Dawar's great-grandfather was close to the Pashtun leader Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan), and had supported his nonviolent Khudai Khidmatgar resistance movement against the British Raj. Jamila Gilani
Jamila Gilani ( ps, ; ur, ; also spelled Jamila Gallani) is a Pashtun nationalist politician who is the spokesperson of the National Democratic Movement (NDM). She served as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. She is an activist in the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), a social movement campaigning for Pashtun human rights. She was formerly the central joint secretary of the Awami National Party (ANP). Early life Gilani was born on 5 January 1960 in Mardan, Khyber Pukhtunkhwah, Pakistan. Fall Of Kabul (2021)
On 15 August 2021, Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul was captured by the Taliban after a major insurgent offensive that began in May 2021. This led to the overthrowing of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under President Ashraf Ghani and the reinstatement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban. The US–Taliban deal, signed on 29 February 2020, is considered one of the most critical factors that caused the collapse of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). The Pakistan Democratic Movement ( ur, پاکستان ڈیموکریٹک موومنٹ), or PDM, is a coalition of political parties in Pakistan. It was founded in September 2020 as a movement against then prime minister Imran Khan, accusing his regime of poor governance, political victimisation of opponents, and mismanaging the economy and foreign policy.
