National Community Church
National Community Church (NCC) is a is a Pentecostal multi-site church located in the Washington, D.C. area, pastored by Mark Batterson. It is affiliated with the Assemblies of God USA. Weekly sermons are also available online as audio and video podcasts and on-demand webcasts. History National Community Church held its first Sunday service on January 7, 1996. During the first nine months of 1996, average attendance at Sunday services was between 20-25 people. At the time, all meetings were at the Joshua R. Giddings school in southeast Washington, DC, but the school was closed due to fire code violations. NCC found a new home in the AMC Theatres at Union Station, holding its first services there on November 17, 1996. A second Sunday service was added in February 2001 when the church grew to 275 weekly attendees. Willow Creek Community Church is an Evangelical non-denominational, multi-site megachurch. Its largest campus is located in the northwestern Chicago suburb of South Barrington, Illinois. It was founded on October 12, 1975 by Dave Holmbo and Bill Hybels, who was its longtime senior pastor. the church averaged 18,000 attendees each weekend at seven locations, down from a high of 25,000 in 2015. Willow Creek has seven locations in the Chicago area, and their Spanish-speaking congregation, Casa de Luz, meets at the South Barrington campus. The Washington and Georgetown Railroad Car House, also known as the Navy Yard Car Barn, or Blue Castle, is an historic building, located at 770 M Street, Southeast, Washington, D.C. * Architecture The Romanesque Revival building was designed by Walter C. Root in 1891. The most distinctive features are on the southeast facade, including towers that mimic a medieval castle. The building was enlarged in 1909 to fill the western half of the block with a one-story addition that is not as stylistically ornate, but mimics the original design. Ballston Quarter, formerly known as Ballston Common Mall, originally opened as Parkington Shopping Center, was one of the first major suburban shopping centers in the Washington, D.C., area. It opened in 1951 and was the nation's first shopping center built around a multi-story parking garage.
