National Aerospace Laboratories
The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) is India's first and largest aerospace research firm established by the CSIR India, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Delhi in 1959. The firm closely operates with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, HAL, DRDO, and ISRO and has the prime responsibility of developing :Indian civil aircraft, civilian aircraft in India. It concentrates on research in advanced topics in aerospace and related disciplines. Turbo Prop
A turboprop is a turbine engine that drives an aircraft propeller. A turboprop consists of an intake, reduction gearbox, compressor, combustor, turbine, and a propelling nozzle. Air enters the intake and is compressed by the compressor. Fuel is then added to the compressed air in the combustor, where the fuel-air mixture then combusts. The hot combustion gases expand through the turbine stages, generating power at the point of exhaust. Some of the power generated by the turbine is used to drive the compressor and electric generator. The gases are then exhausted from the turbine. Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) is an Indian aerospace, defense, military engineering & construction and technology company. It is a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, a holding company for the Tata Group. History TASL entered into a joint-venture with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to manufacture the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter in India for the domestic civil and military markets. The plan was to have a US$200 million manufacturing plant operational in Hyderabad by 2010. The NAL / ADE Pushpak is an unmanned Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) technology demonstrator developed jointly by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) of DRDO and National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) of CSIRI. It is one of the airframe designs being pursued for "National Program on Micro Air Vehicles" (NP-MICAV) Pushpak is a fixed-wing aerial vehicle having platform shape of Dihedral Delta. Its airframe is made of GF/Kevlar. It has Pusher configuration and its propeller is behind the motor. It features Cleaner Aerodynamics, Nose-mounted payload, high endurance and low wing loading. NAL NM5
NM5 or C-NM5 was a multi-role, multi-mission aircraft being jointly developed by National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) and Mahindra Aerospace. It is a 5-seater civil aircraft and an extension of the Hansa project. The NM5 was entirely designed and developed by NAL and Mahindra Aerospace on a 50:50 partnership basis. NAL Saras
The NAL Saras (Sanskrit: " Crane") is the first Indian multi-purpose civilian aircraft in the light transport aircraft category as designed by the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL). In January 2016, it was reported that the project had been cancelled. But in February 2017, the project was revived. In February 2019, India's finance ministry approved for the production of the airliner. Development In the mid-1980s, the Research Council recommended that the NAL should study the civil aviation requirements of India and recommended ways of establishing a viable civil aviation industry. It further recommended that the NAL should carry out a formal techno-economical feasibility study of a multi role light transport aircraft (LTA – renamed SARAS in October 1993).
