Nathan Thorley
Nathan Thorley (born 18 April 1993) is former Welsh professional boxer who challenged for the Commonwealth cruiserweight title in August 2020. As an amateur he competed for Wales in the light-heavyweight category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal. He turned professional in 2015, winning the Welsh light-heavyweight title two years later by defeating Jermaine Asare. Career Amateur Born in Cardiff, Thorley took up boxing as a child between the age of nine or ten after joining a boxing gym managed by Pat Thomas in the Fairwater area. He later fought at St. Joseph's and Splott Amateur Boxing Club. Thorley was chosen to represent Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He had initially not been selected for the squad before replacing Jamie Evans who pulled out of the squad. Fairwater, Cardiff
Fairwater ( cy, Y Tyllgoed) is a district and Community (Wales), community in the west of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is located a few miles from Culverhouse Cross which connects Cardiff to the M4 motorway. The population taken at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 12,981. Etymologies The original Welsh name Tyllgoed derives from "tyll" meaning "to hole" or "to burrow" and "coed" meaning "woods" or "trees". Tyllgoed is a name common to a number of streams in Wales that burrow through woods and it is likely this name would have originally applied to the stream that still runs through Fairwater today. The similarity of the first element to the Welsh word "tywyll" meaning "dark" led some later writers to derive the name as "dark woods". Kennedy St-Pierre
Joseph Kennedy St-Pierre (born 23 October 1992) is a Mauritian boxer who represented Mauritius at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he competed in the men's heavyweight competition. He is a two time African Games gold medalist (one in the middleweight division and one in the heavyweight division) and a one time Commonwealth Games silver medalist (in the light heavyweight division). St-Pierre has also competed in another Commonwealth Games and an African Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament. Competition St-Pierre's debut at an international sporting competition was at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. He reached the quarterfinals of the men's welterweight competition before losing 13–1 to Carl Hield of the Bahamas.
