Nathan Brown (poet)
Nathan Brown is an author, singer-songwriter, and award-winning poet who served as the Oklahoma Poet Laureate from 2013 to 2014. Life Nathan Brown was born in Longview, Texas on March 16, 1965. His family moved to Norman, Oklahoma in January 1970, where he grew up and went to college. He now hails from Wimberley, a small town in the Hill Country of Texas where he has lived with his wife, Ashley, since 2013. Nathan holds an interdisciplinary PhD in English and Journalism with an emphasis in Creative and Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma. After teaching at OU for almost twenty years, he returned to the Austin area to be closer to the music scene there and tours the country full-time as a poet, musician, and workshop leader. He has published 20 books, one of which (''Two Tables Over'') won the Oklahoma Book Award for Poetry, and another, ''Karma Crisis: New and Selected Poems'', was a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize in New Jersey. Nathan Brown ( as, নাথান ব্ৰাউন; 22 June 1807 – 1 January 1886) was an American Baptist missionary to India and Japan, Bible translator, and Abolitionism in the United States, abolitionist. He is noted for his works on Assamese language, grammar and script. In around 1843, based in Sibsagar, he began translating the New Testament into Assamese language, Assamese or ''Amar Trankôrta Yisu Khristôr Nôtun Niyôm'' () which he published in 1848. In 1854, he published another book titled meaning roughly ''Jesus Christ and his Holy Messages''. He also translated prayers alongside his other missionary colleagues. His work ''Grammatical Notices of the Assamese Language'' was published by the American Baptist Mission Press in 1848. Nathan Brown (born 31 July 1973) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach who was the Head Coach of the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL and former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played as a for the St. George Dragons and St. George Illawarra Dragons in the National Rugby League, also coaching the latter. He then spent time in the Super League coaching the Huddersfield Giants and St Helens, with whom he won the 2014 Super League Grand Final, before returning to Australia to coach the Newcastle Knights in the NRL. Nathan Daniel Brown (born 14 August 1976) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Demons in the Australian Football League. He was drafted in the 1997 AFL Draft at pick number 66 overall, From Pinnaroo, South Australia. He made his AFL debut in 1998 against Carlton at Princes Park. His performance in the last quarter with the game in the balance prompted the Channel 7 commentary team to opine that it was one of the best debut performances they had seen. A series of soft-tissue injuries plagued him over the following seasons, and he was not part of Melbourne's 2000 Grand Final side. Nathan Gordon Brown (born 10 February 1978) is a radio and television football commentator and a former Australian rules footballer for Richmond and the Western Bulldogs in the AFL. He played a total of 219 senior AFL matches and kicked 349 goals. His playing career ended after Richmond told him at the end of 2009 that he would no longer be required as a player. Recruited from Golden Square and then the Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup to the Western Bulldogs in the AFL, Brown made a name for himself as a dangerous medium-sized forward. Nathan Clifford Brown (October 13, 1856 – March 20, 1941) was an American ornithologist who was one of the co-founders of the American Ornithologists' Union. Biography Nathan Clifford Brown was born in Portland, Maine on October 13, 1856. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Associate Supreme Court Justice Nathan Clifford, who had also been a U.S. Representative for Maine, an ambassador to Mexico and an attorney general for Democratic President James K. Polk. Brown developed an interest in natural history early in his life. He collected birds and attempted taxidermy several times before entering Bowdoin College in 1873.
