Nate And The Colonel
''Nate and the Colonel'' is a 2003 Western (genre), Western film written, directed and edited by Paul Winters. The film also stars Winters as Colonel Ben Loftin and Ricco Ross as Nate. ''Nate and the Colonel'' is the first feature film to use the Native Americans in the United States, Native American Ojibwe language (for the first half of the film, the Native actors only speak in the Ojibwa language with English sub-titles). The American Civil War saw cavalry tactics move largely away from the offensive towards the defensive, with the emphasis on screening, raiding, and reconnaissance. Development of the rifled musket had also rendered the cavalry charge both impractical and detrimental. Ricco Ross is an American actor. Life and career Born at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, he is the fifth of eight children, and in addition has three step sisters and another brother from his father's first marriage. He first acted in a high school production, majored in theater at a local community college, and entered Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he was awarded a BA in Theater. He earned a scholarship to UCLA, where his career started to develop. The Ojibwe, Ojibwa, Chippewa, or Saulteaux are an Anishinaabe people in what is currently southern Canada, the northern Midwestern United States, and Northern Plains.
