Nikšić ( cnr, Никшић, italic=no, sr-cyrl, Никшић, italic=no; ), is the second largest city in Montenegro, with a total population of 56,970 located in the west of the country, in the centre of the spacious Nikšić field at the foot of Trebjesa Hill. ŽRK Budućnost is a women's handball team from Podgorica, Montenegro (previously, the club also appeared under the names ZRK Buducnost MONET, Buducnost Brillant and Buducnost Titograd). Among the numerous titles, Budućnost is two-times winner of EHF Women's Champions League The club was founded on February 13, 1949, and played its first official game in 1950. The first trophy, the Cup of Yugoslavia, was won in 1984. In 1985, ŽRK Budućnost won the Yugoslavian championship, and went on to win their first European title (Cup Winners' Cup) that same year. The Montenegro women's national handball team is the national team of Montenegro. It is governed by the Handball Federation of Montenegro and takes part in international handball competitions. History Montenegro's women's national handball team was formed in 2006, shortly after Montenegro gained independence. The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. 2022 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. It showed an impressive action by the norwegian right-back Nora Mørk, who was the top scorer of the EHF EURO 2022, and Henny Reistad, the MVP. The tournament has been advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
