Natasha Olson-Thorne
Natasha Shangwe Olson-Thorne (born 6 October 1992) is a Hong Kong rugby union player. She represented Hong Kong at the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland, Hong Kong's first World Cup appearance. Olson-Thorne created history when she scored Hong Kong's first World Cup try in their match against Wales. Biography Olson-Thorne began playing rugby at the age of 15 while attending Sha Tin College. She made her international debut for the Hong Kong women's national rugby union team in 2010. She then made her sevens debut at the 2011 Hong Kong Women's Sevens. In 2015 she graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health. She captained the sevens team for the first time at the 2016 Hong Kong Women's Sevens, it was her sixth appearance at the tournament. Hongkongers (), also known as Hong Kongers, Hong Kongese, Hongkongese, Hong Kong citizens and Hong Kong people, typically refers to residents of the territory of Hong Kong; although may also refer to others who were born and/or raised in the territory. Kazakhstan Women's National Rugby Union Team
The Kazakhstan women's national rugby union team is nicknamed ''the Nomads''. It is controlled by the Kazakhstan Rugby Union. History Kazakhstan has competed in six Rugby World Cups between 1994 and 2014. They won the 2014 Asian Four Nations Championship in Hong Kong. Up to 2019, Kazakhstan had only played four international matches since the 2014 World Cup. They defeated China in the 2019 Asia Rugby Women's Championship Division 1 competition and qualified for the 2020 Asia Rugby Women's Championship. The 2020 Asia Rugby Women's Championship was postponed twice before it was cancelled altogether. The Nomads were left to play Hong Kong who later withdrew due to challenges caused by COVID-19. Japan Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Japan women's national rugby sevens team has competed in competitions such as the Hong Kong Women's Sevens. In 2012-13 they played two World Series tournaments, resulting 13th in China. In the 2013–14 season they resulted 7th at São Paulo and 8th at Atlanta. They were not invited to any World Series tournament in 2014–15. Japan played the full 2015–16 World Series, with a best result of 9th at the Dubai Sevens, and finished 11th in the overall standings. Japan qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics after winning the 2015 ARFU Women's Sevens Championships. The team won over Kenya but lost twice to Brazil, finishing 10th in the tournament. The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the eighth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens organised by World Rugby. The 2022 tournament, comprising 24 men's and 16 women's teams as previously, was played over three days in one venue in September. It took place at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa between 9 and 11 September 2022. It was the first ever Rugby World Cup Sevens in Africa. The 2021 Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Series was hosted as two tournament events in the United Arab Emirates in late November 2021. Following the cancellation of the 2020 series due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the twelfth edition of Asia's continental sevens circuit. The first leg of the tournament was a qualifier for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in South Africa. Japan and China qualified for the World Cup. The lower-tier Trophy tournaments, hosted in Lebanon, Uzbekistan and Thailand served as qualifiers, with the winners eligible to compete in the main series.
