Natasha Lako
Natasha Lako (born 13 May 1948) is an Albanian poet and novelist. She belongs to the country's first generation of women writers. Lako studied political science at Tirana University, specializing in journalism. She has also worked at the New Albania Film Studios in Tirana. Together with Diana Çuli and Helena Kadare, she was one of the few women writers during the Albanian communist regime. The University of Tirana ( sq, Universiteti i Tiranës, abbreviated UT) is a public university located at the central borough of Tirana 10 in Tirana, Albania. It was established as the ''State University of Tirana'' in 1957 through merging of five existing institutes of higher education. Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Diana Çuli
Diana Çuli () (born 13 April 1951, Tirana) is an Albanian writer, journalist and politician. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tirana in 1973. After graduation she joined the editorial boards of ''Drita'' and French-speaking magazine ''Les lettres albanaises''. In 1990, she became involved with the democratic opposition and became the head of the Independent Women's Forum, and then joined the Albanian Social Democratic Party. Since 2006, she has been a representative of Albania in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In Albania, she works for women's rights, particularly those forced into prostitution. As of 2004 she was the chair of the Albania Women's Federation. At the end of the 1970s, she published her first short story ''Ndërgjegja'' (''Conscience''). Helena Kadare
Helena "Elena" Kadare (; born 21 September 1943) is an Albanian screenwriter, translator and author of short stories and novels. One of the latter, 1970's ''Një lindje e vështirë'', is the first novel by a woman to have been published in Albania. ''A Woman from Tirana'' (1990) is the novel of Kadare's that is perhaps her most widely read. Biography Kadare was born in Fier, in southern Albania. She studied literature at the University of Tirana, and then worked in journalism and as an editor in the publishing industry. She has written numerous short stories.
