Nasser Shabani
Nasser Shabani ( fa, ناصر شعبانی; – 13 March 2020) was an Iranian general and senior commander of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He took credit for using Houthi rebels to target Saudi oil tankers. Career Shabani began his military career in 1982 during the Iran-Iraq War. He participated in suppressing the Amol uprising the same year. In the final year of the Iran-Iraq War, he was promoted to become one of several fronts of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He played a key role in Operation Mersad, and later wrote several books about the war. In 2011, he succeeded the president of the university of Imam Hussein and became one of the deputies of the Sar-Allah Headquarters. In 2018, he stated in Iranian state media that the IRGC ordered the Houthi forces in Yemen to attack two Saudi oil tankers on the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Sardar (IRGC)
Sardar ( fa, سردار), roughly equivalent to "General", is the honorific title used for officers of high rank, ranking Second Brigadier General and higher in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and commanders of the Law Enforcement Force of Islamic Republic of Iran (Police) who have previously served in the former military or the Islamic Revolution Committees, as well as the commanders of the disbanded Jihad of Construction. The Bab-el-Mandeb (Arabic language, Arabic: , , ) is a strait between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. Operation Mersad
Operation Forough Javidan ( fa, عملیات فروغ جاویدان, ''Operation Eternal Light'', MeK's codename) and Operation Mersad ( fa, عملیات مرصاد, ''Operation Ambush'', Iranian codename) were among the last major military operations of the Iran–Iraq War. In July 1988, Iraqis forces and 7,000 militants from the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) invaded Iranian Kurdistan, hoping to capture Kermanshah. The MEK militants were armed, equipped and given air support by the Iraqi military.
