Nasrin Sotoudeh
Nasrin Sotoudeh ( fa, نسرین ستوده) is a human rights lawyer in Iran. She has represented imprisoned Iranian opposition activists and politicians following the disputed June 2009 Iranian presidential elections as well as prisoners sentenced to death for crimes committed when they were minors. Her clients have included journalist Isa Saharkhiz, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi, and Heshmat Tabarzadi. She has also represented women arrested for appearing in public without a hijab, which is a punishable offence in Iran. Nasrin Sotoudeh was the subject of ''Nasrin'', a 2020 documentary filmed in secret in Iran about Sotoudeh's "ongoing battles for the rights of women, children and minorities." Langarud
Langarud ( fa, لنگرود, also Romanized as Langarūd, Langerūd, Langaroud and Langarood; also known as Shahr-e Langarūd), is a city and capital of Langarud County, Gilan Province, Iran. The 2017 census showed the population as 79,445. Langarud is located on the south coast of the Caspian Sea. One of the most important tourist attractions of Langarud is Chamkhaleh coast. Defenders Of Human Rights Center
The Defenders of Human Rights Center is an Iranian human rights organization. Organization Based in Tehran, the organization was founded in 2001 and has been active in defending rights of women, political prisoners and minorities in Iran. Several of the most prominent Iranian lawyers founded the organization and are members. Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is the current president of DHRC. Ebadi along with four other notable Iranian lawyers, Abdolfattah Soltani, Mohammad Seifzadeh, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah and Mohammad Sharif, Mehdi Afsharzadeh were the founding members of the organization. Narges Mohammadi joined the organization in 2003 and went on to become its vice president. Omid Memarian ( fa, امید معماریان) (born 1974~) is an Iranian journalist and blogger. He was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in 2005-2006 and was a Rotary Peace Fellow at the Journalism School in 2007-2009, where he received his master's degree. Parvin Ardalan
Parvin Ardalan ( fa, پروین اردلان; born 1967 in Tehran) with a Kurdish background, although not a Kurdish speaker, is a leading Iranian women's rights activist, writer and journalist. She was awarded the Olof Palme Prize in 2007 for her struggles for equal rights for men and women in Iran. Career In the 1990s Ardalan, along with e.g. Noushin Ahmadi Khorasani, established the Women's Cultural Centre (''Markaz-e Farhangi-ye Zanan''), which since then has been a center for forming opinions, analyzing and documenting the women's issues in Iran. Anahita is the Old Persian form of the name of an Iranian goddess and appears in complete and earlier form as ('), the Avestan name of an Indo-Iranian cosmological figure venerated as the divinity of "the Waters" (Aban) and hence associated with fertility, healing and wisdom. Kourosh Zaim ( fa, کورش زعیم; born May 17, 1939) is an Iranian author, inventor, engineer, translator, and nonviolent political activist. He was born in Kashan, Iran, on May 17, 1939. A vocal advocate of secular democracy and human rights since youth, Kourosh rose to prominence as a political analyst and Secretary to the Leadership Committee of Iran's National Front party, or Jebhe Melli, Iran's largest pro-democracy political organization. Membership in Jebhe Melli has been illegal since 1981. Arrest Zaim was detained in February 2011, only hours after an interview with Radio Farda of RFE/RL was broadcast.
