Naro Dhoro
Naro ( scn, Naru ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Agrigento, on the island of Sicily, Italy. It is bounded by the comuni of Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Camastra, Campobello di Licata, Canicattì, Castrofilippo, Delia, Favara, Licata, Palma di Montechiaro, Ravanusa and Sommatino. The naturalised French composer Achille Campisiano (1837–1901) was born in this village. It is also the birthplace of Il Volo singer Piero Barone. History There was already a settlement in the area of Naro in the Roman era, of which remains such as catacombs and ruins of Roman villas have been found. It was an important fortified town during the Arab and the Norman occupation, and remained a regional centre. Favara, Agrigento
Favara is a town and ''comune'' of south central Sicily (Italy), in the province of Agrigento, north-east of Agrigento by road, with which it forms a conurbation. Historically, the town has had a considerable agricultural trade, and there are sulfur and other mines in the neighborhood. It is regionally famous for the ''Easter Lamb'', a local pastry produced there from almonds and pistachios. Achille Campisiano
Achille Domenico Campisiano (12 November 1837 – 17 April 1908) was an Italian-born French pianist and composer. Also known under the pseudonym Achille de Campisiano, he composed opéras comiques, operettas and opéras bouffes. Biography Born in Naro, in the province of Agrigento, Sicily, he was the son of Salvatore Campisiano, a jeweller, and Maria Carolina Rochia from a family of Sicilian origin who lived in Marseille. It was in Marseille that Achille Campisiano received his first tuition in musical composition, between 1850 and 1857. In 1866 he was hired by the Café de la Renaissance in Montargis. Around 1867 Campisiano replaced a Monsieur Batifort at the Cheval-Blanc, pianist and composer for the Érard concerts, around 1893. Campisiano directed comic operas and operettas for touring companies before becoming director of the Théâtre Déjazet around 1885, where he resumed the vaudeville tradition that had once made the theatre's fortune. Palma di Montechiaro ( scn, Parma di Muntichiaru) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Agrigento, Sicily, southern Italy. Many Greek archaeological findings have been found near the town. Formerly known as Palma, in 1863, Montechiaro was added to the name, in honour of the Chiaramonte family whose stronghold is close to the town. Licata
Licata (, ; grc, Φιντίας, whence la, Phintias or ''Plintis''), formerly also Alicata (), is a city and ''comune'' located on the south coast of Sicily, at the mouth of the Salso River (the ancient ''Himera''), about midway between Agrigento and Gela.
