Naraiv, also Narayiv, Narajiv ( uk, Нараїв; pl, Narajów; yi, נאראיעוו, Narayev; he, נאראיוב, Narayuv) is a selo in Ternopil Raion of Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Naraiv rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Naraiv is within Eastern Galicia, former Austrian empire (until 1918). In the past it was a town. The first historical mention dates to 1445. Naraiv is situated along the small river of Naraivka, a tributary of Zolota Lypa in a picturesque natural surrounding of vast beech and hornbeam forests and fertile rolling hills (western part of Podolian Upland, ethno-geographic area of Galician Opillya). Until 18 July 2020, Naraiv belonged to Berezhany Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Ternopil Oblast to three. First Narayever Congregation
First Narayever Congregation is a traditional-egalitarian synagogue located at 187 Brunswick Avenue, in the Harbord Village neighbourhood of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest Judaism, Jewish congregation in downtown Toronto. It was founded by the Jewish immigrants from Narayiv, western Ukraine, hence the Yiddish name "Narayever". Founded by 1914 as an Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox synagogue by Galicia (Eastern Europe), Galician immigrants to Toronto, it was a ''landsmanshaft'', an association whose members had immigrated from the same town, in this case the town of Naraiev. Berezhany Raion
Berezhany Raion ( uk, Бережанський район) was a raion (district) in the westernmost corner of Ternopil Oblast (province) in western Ukraine, area traditionally known as Halychyna (''Galicia''). The administrative center was the city of Berezhany, some 50 km away from Ternopil and ca 80 km away from Lviv. Berezhany was separately incorporated as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the raion. The Zolota Lypa river, a tributary of the Dniester tributary crossed the district from the north to the south. The river forms a large lake north of Berezhany. Opillya
Opillia ( uk, Опілля, ) is a geographic region of the Podolian Upland in Lviv Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Ternopil Oblast in western Ukraine. It is a western region of the Podillia Upland that stretches along the left bank of Dniester River and across valleys of Hnyla Lypa and Zolota Lypa rivers. Zolota Lypa approximately serves as an eastern boundary, while to its west is located the Sian-Dniester Divide Plain. The southern boundary of Opillia is created by Dniester, while to the north it reaches Lviv Plateau (Roztochia), Holohory, and Peremyshliany Highlands.
