Naonobu Fujii
was a Japanese volleyball player, who was also a member of the Japan men's national volleyball team and of Toray Arrows. Personal life Naonobu Fujii grew up in Miyagi, Japan where he attended Furukawa Industrial High School, a school known for its volleyball team. Gaining an interest in the sport, he went on to play for Juntendo University. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as cycling in his free time. His family home was swept away by tsunami caused by Tohoku earthquake . Because of the disaster, his father was unemployed by that time. Fujii once was forced to the situation that he may need to give up his dream of playing volleyball. With his family's encouragement, Fujii continued his volleyball dream. In September 2021, Fujii announced that he had married Miya Sato, who was a setter of the Japan women's national volleyball team and Hitachi Rivale club. The Japan women's national volleyball team (Hinotori Nippon, 火の鳥NIPPON), or ''All-Japan women's volleyball team'', is currently ranked 10th in the world by FIVB. The new head coach is Masayoshi Manabe. One of their greatest successes was at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, when they defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union on the way to the gold medal. Japan was qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics by winning the Women's Olympic Qualifier that was held from 8 May to 16 May in Tokyo, Japan. Volleyball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 15th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 July to 7 August 2021. It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Because of this pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. France won their first gold and overall medal with a 3–2 win over the Russian team that competed as the ROC. Toray Arrows Men's Volleyball Club
is a men's volleyball team based in Mishima city, Shizuoka, Japan. They play in V.League Division 1. The owner of the team is Toray Industries. History The club was founded in 1947 in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture as Toyo Rayon Kurin Kai. They initially played nine-player volleyball. They moved to Mishima in 1964 and started to play six-player volleyball. They were described as the strongest team in the second-tier league but when they were promoted to the top-flight, they found themselves languishing in the wrong end of the table. However, since they returned to the Japan Volleyball League in the 1988-1989 season, they established themselves as a top-flight team. Toray Arrows won All Japan Championship in 2002 and the V.League in the 2004–05, 2008-09 season.
