Japan Volleyball Association
The Japan Volleyball Association (JVA) is the governing body for volleyball in Japan. It was founded in 1927, and has been a member of FIVB since 1951. It is also a member of the Asian Volleyball Confederation. The JVA is responsible for organizing the Japan men's national volleyball team and Japan women's national volleyball team. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. The team may touch the ball up to three times to return the ball to the other side of the court, but individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. ... is a women's volleyball team owned by Japan Tobacco Ltd., and based in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, Japan. The team is the reigning champion of the V.League 1 after winning the 2019-20 and 2020–21 seasons. Hisamitsu Springs
is a women's volleyball team based in Kobe city, Hyogo and Tosu city, Saga, Japan. It plays in V.League 1. The club was founded in 1948. In July 2020 the team announced an official name change from "Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical Springs" to "Hisamitsu Springs" and unveiled a new team mascot and logo. On August 7, 2020 Hisamitsu Springs concluded " a cooperation agreement with Tosu City to further revitalize the region and economy through the volleyball business, and we will proceed with concrete efforts". Toray Arrows Men's Volleyball Club
is a men's volleyball team based in Mishima city, Shizuoka, Japan. They play in V.League Division 1. The owner of the team is Toray Industries. History The club was founded in 1947 in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture as Toyo Rayon Kurin Kai. They initially played nine-player volleyball. They moved to Mishima in 1964 and started to play six-player volleyball. They were described as the strongest team in the second-tier league but when they were promoted to the top-flight, they found themselves languishing in the wrong end of the table. However, since they returned to the Japan Volleyball League in the 1988-1989 season, they established themselves as a top-flight team. Toray Arrows won All Japan Championship in 2002 and the V.League in the 2004–05, 2008-09 season. JTEKT Stings
is a men's volleyball team based in the city of Kariya, Japan. It competes in the V.League, the highest volleyball league in Japan. The club was founded in 1958 and the current owner of the club is JTEKT. History JTEKT Stings was founded as Toyoda Kōki volleyball club in 1958. The club was promoted to V1 League (later renamed the Challenge League) in 2002. The club was renamed the JTEKT Stings in 2006. In 2010, the club won the Challenge League for the first time. In 2013, the club was promoted to V.Premier League (later was changed to V.League division 1), the highest league in Japan, after beating Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler. The 2022 Emperor's Cup and Empress' Cup All Japan Volleyball Championship was the 16th edition of Emperor's Cup and Empress' Cup All Japan Volleyball Championship. The final round of the tournament was held from 9–18 December 2022. JTEKT Stings beat Toray Arrows with straight sets in men's final, winning the title for the second times. NEC Red Rockets won over Toray Arrows with in 4 sets. This was the first time NEC Red Rockets won the title. Masahiro Yanagida and Sarina Koga were chosen to be MVP of this tournament. The word ''Tennō'' (天皇) means the Emperor of Japan, and the term ''Kōgō'' (皇后) is the Empress of Japan. The Tennō Kōgō Commemorative Cup is given to the champion of the tournament. The Wolf Dogs Nagoya () are a men's volleyball team based in Inazawa, Aichi, Japan. They play in the V.Premier League. History The club was founded in 1961 by the workers of Toyoda Gosei, one of the Toyota Motor group companies. They initially played nine-player volleyball but switched to six-player volleyball in 1982. They were promoted to the Regional League in 1984 and to the second top-level national league in 1993.
